Ishan Kishan’s Explosive 91 Lifts SRH to 216/6 Against Rajasthan Royals

Hyderabad, April 2026 : Skipper Ishan Kishan delivered a sensational batting performance, scoring a blistering 91 to power Sunrisers Hyderabad to a formidable total of 216/6 against Rajasthan Royals at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium on Monday.

Opting to bat first, SRH suffered an early setback as Jofra Archer struck with the very first delivery of the match, dismissing Abhishek Sharma for a golden duck. The early breakthrough gave Rajasthan Royals immediate momentum, and the pressure intensified as Travis Head struggled to settle at the crease.

However, Kishan quickly turned the tide with an aggressive and confident approach. He unleashed a flurry of strokes, dominating the RR bowlers with his impeccable timing and shot selection. Anything pitched full and wide was driven powerfully through the off side, while short deliveries were dispatched with commanding pulls and hooks. Kishan reached his half-century in just 30 balls, showcasing his intent to take the attack to the opposition.

The left-hander’s innings, which came off just 44 deliveries, was studded with eight boundaries and six towering sixes. He played a crucial role in stabilising the innings and then accelerating it, ensuring SRH recovered strongly from their early setback. His partnership with Heinrich Klaasen proved pivotal, as the duo added 88 runs for the third wicket. Klaasen contributed a valuable 40 runs, complementing Kishan’s aggressive approach and keeping the scoreboard ticking.

Earlier, Nandre Burger came close to dismissing Head on a couple of occasions, but the batter survived briefly before eventually falling to Riyan Parag. Despite losing wickets at intervals, SRH maintained a strong run rate, thanks largely to Kishan’s dominance.

A brief interruption due to a floodlight issue did little to disrupt the home side’s momentum. Kishan continued his onslaught after the break but fell just nine runs short of a well-deserved century, mistiming a pull shot off Sandeep Sharma, which was safely taken by wicketkeeper Dhruv Jurel.

Following his dismissal, Klaasen also departed soon after, but the finishing touches were expertly applied by Nitish Kumar Reddy and Salil Arora. Reddy smashed 28 runs with some powerful hitting, while Arora remained unbeaten on 24, ensuring SRH crossed the 200-run mark comfortably. Arora’s late flourish included multiple boundaries and a crucial six that took the team to an imposing total.

For Rajasthan Royals, Archer was the pick of the bowlers with figures of 2/37, while Parag also chipped in with a wicket. However, the bowling unit struggled to contain SRH’s aggressive batting display.

With 216 runs on the board, Sunrisers Hyderabad have set up a challenging target, putting themselves in a strong position as they look to secure an important victory.

Brief Scores: Sunrisers Hyderabad 216/6 in 20 overs (Ishan Kishan 91, Heinrich Klaasen 40; Jofra Archer 2-37, Riyan Parag 1-5) against Rajasthan Royals
