Jharkhand Govt Signs MoU with Indian Bank to Boost Financial Security for Employees
Ranchi, April 2026 : In a significant move aimed at enhancing financial security and banking services for government employees, Chief Minister Hemant Soren presided over the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between the Finance Department of the Jharkhand government and Indian Bank at the state secretariat.
The agreement covers a comprehensive Salary Account Package for state government employees, along with a dedicated package for employees under the National Health Mission (NHM), including HRIS (Human Resource Information System) integration. The initiative is designed to provide improved banking facilities, financial security, and tailored benefits to thousands of employees, particularly those working in the health sector.
Addressing the gathering, Soren highlighted the importance of collaboration between the government and financial institutions in driving inclusive and holistic development. He noted that the partnership marks the beginning of a new chapter in strengthening employee welfare and ensuring better access to financial services.
The Chief Minister emphasised that healthcare workers often operate in high-risk environments and face numerous challenges. In such circumstances, ensuring their financial stability, insurance coverage, and access to reliable banking services becomes crucial. He added that the MoU would boost the morale of NHM personnel, enabling them to perform their duties with greater confidence and security.
Reflecting on the lessons from the COVID-19 pandemic, Soren pointed out how unforeseen health crises can deeply impact individuals and families, particularly those from economically weaker sections. He said initiatives like this MoU are essential to safeguard employees against such uncertainties and to provide them with a safety net during difficult times.
The agreement is expected to benefit a large number of healthcare workers and other government employees across the state. It also aims to streamline salary disbursement systems and expand access to modern banking services.
Soren further stressed the need to expand digital infrastructure across sectors, stating that the future will see greater integration of workers, including labourers, into formal banking systems. This, he said, would increase the responsibility of banks in delivering efficient and inclusive services.
Senior officials, including Finance Minister Radhakrishna Kishore, Health Minister Dr Irfan Ansari, Chief Secretary Avinash Kumar, and other representatives from the state government and Indian Bank, were present at the event.
The initiative reflects the government’s commitment to strengthening employee welfare while promoting financial inclusion and digital transformation across Jharkhand.
