Chief Minister Bhajanlal Sharma Attends 77th Rajasthan Police Foundation Day, Reaffirms Zero Tolerance on Corruption
Jaipur, April 2026: Bhajanlal Sharma attended the state-level ceremony marking the 77th Rajasthan Police Foundation Day at the Rajasthan Police Academy, emphasizing that maintaining law and order and ensuring a safe, fear-free environment for citizens remains the government’s top priority.
Addressing the gathering, the Chief Minister said the police play a crucial role in upholding law and order and have been instrumental in curbing crime across the state. He highlighted that Rajasthan Police personnel are working tirelessly with discipline, dedication, and a spirit of public service to protect citizens in all circumstances. Reiterating the government’s stance, he said a zero-tolerance policy against corruption is being strictly implemented, with a firm commitment to making Rajasthan crime-free.
He noted that Rajasthan Police, over its 77-year journey, has set remarkable examples of courage, duty, and sacrifice. Paying tribute to martyred police personnel, he said their supreme sacrifice for public safety will always be remembered.
Focus on Community Policing and Crime Reduction
Sharma emphasized that police and society are complementary to each other, and strong policing has enhanced public trust and a sense of security. He stated that improved law and order has helped establish Rajasthan as a peaceful state, attracting investors and tourists, thereby strengthening the economy.
He added that community policing can play a vital role in tackling challenges such as cybercrime, drug abuse, and organized crime. Active participation from society and awareness among citizens are essential to effectively counter these threats.
The Chief Minister also highlighted that Rajasthan is among the leading states in implementing new laws introduced by Narendra Modi. As a result of the government’s policies, crime in the state has decreased by 18.77% over the past two years. Specific reductions include 25.68% in murder cases, 47.26% in dacoity, 50.75% in robbery, and nearly 10% in crimes against women.
Strengthening Law Enforcement Mechanisms
To combat drug-related crimes, an Anti-Narcotics Task Force has been established, along with one dedicated police station and 17 outposts. A Special Investigation Team (SIT) has also been formed to act against examination malpractices, ensuring no paper leaks in the state—boosting confidence among youth.
Additionally, an Anti-Gangster Task Force is actively working to curb organized crime, resulting in a decline in the use of firearms and related fatalities. Cyber help desks have been set up in all police stations to raise awareness and assist citizens.
The government has taken several steps to strengthen the police force, including issuing appointment letters to over 8,000 constables. Infrastructure has also been expanded with the creation of new offices, police stations, and upgraded outposts. Welfare measures such as increased uniform and mess allowances, deployment of 1,000 mobile police units, and opening of new police चौकियां have further strengthened policing.
Ceremonial Parade and Announcements
The Chief Minister inspected the ceremonial parade featuring 12 platoons, including units from the Rajasthan Police Academy, RAC battalions, Jaipur Commissionerate’s Nirbhaya Squad, SDRF, GRP, and mounted police. The central band added energy to the event with its performances.
Several police personnel were honored with the Chief Minister’s Excellence Service Medal. A new portal and mobile app for retired police personnel were also launched to improve accessibility to services.
