Kishan’s Blitz Powers SRH to Stunning Chase; Hyderabad Beat Rajasthan by 5 Wickets in High-Scoring Thriller

Jaipur, April 2026 : In a run-fest at the Sawai Mansingh Stadium, Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) pulled off a sensational chase to defeat Rajasthan Royals (RR) by five wickets in Match 36 of the Indian Premier League 2026. Vice-captain Ishan Kishan led the charge with a blistering 74 off just 31 balls as SRH chased down a daunting 229-run target in only 18.3 overs.

Earlier, RR had posted a formidable 228/6 in their 20 overs, powered by a sensational century from 15-year-old prodigy Vaibhav Sooryavanshi and a solid half-century from Dhruv Jurel.

SRH’s Explosive Chase

Chasing a massive total, SRH had a shaky start as opener Travis Head fell in the very first over, managing just six runs despite being dropped early by Jurel off Jofra Archer.

However, what followed was sheer carnage. Kishan took charge in emphatic fashion, attacking Archer with three boundaries in one over. Abhishek Sharma joined the onslaught, smashing three fours in an over from Nandre Burger. The duo completely shifted the momentum, racing to 89 runs in the powerplay.

Abhishek was handed a lifeline when Ravindra Jadeja dropped a straightforward catch, and RR paid the price dearly. Both batters brought up rapid half-centuries—Abhishek in 24 balls and Kishan in 25—putting the bowlers under relentless pressure.

The pair stitched together a stunning 132-run partnership before Abhishek was dismissed for 57 off 29 balls, courtesy of a sharp catch by Archer.

Kishan continued his aggressive strokeplay alongside Heinrich Klaasen, ensuring SRH stayed firmly on course. He eventually fell for a match-defining 74, edging a short delivery from Archer.

With the game still in balance, Nitish Kumar Reddy and Klaasen steadied the innings with smart batting. Klaasen struck a crucial six in the 17th over, while Nitish added quick runs, scoring 36 off 18 balls.

The finishing touch came from Salil Arora, who sealed the victory with a towering six as SRH reached the target with nine balls to spare, completing one of the most impressive chases of the season.

Sooryavanshi’s Record-Breaking Knock Lights Up RR Innings

Earlier in the match, Rajasthan Royals delivered a batting masterclass after being put in to bat. Young sensation Sooryavanshi stole the show with a breathtaking display of power-hitting.

He announced his arrival in style by smashing four sixes in the opening over off Praful Hinge, collecting 25 runs. Alongside Yashasvi Jaiswal, he kept the scoreboard ticking rapidly, with both batters hitting sixes off Pat Cummins in the following over.

SRH managed to break the opening stand when Eshan Malinga dismissed Jaiswal for 10, but the momentum remained with RR. Sooryavanshi brought up a blistering half-century in just 15 balls, propelling RR to 73/1 in the powerplay.

He then built a formidable partnership with Jurel, who complemented him with a composed yet impactful innings. Jurel accelerated in the middle overs, smashing a 101-metre six and reaching his fifty before being dismissed for 51 off 25 balls by Nitish Kumar Reddy.

Sooryavanshi, however, continued his assault, racing to a sensational century in just 36 balls. He eventually scored 103 off 37 deliveries, leaving the crowd in awe before being dismissed.

RR suffered a minor setback with the early dismissal of Riyan Parag, but Donovan Ferreira added a quickfire 33 off 16 balls to maintain the momentum. Shimron Hetmyer chipped in with 11 runs as RR finished strongly at 228/6.

For SRH, Malinga was the pick of the bowlers with figures of 2/38, while Cummins, Hinge, Sakib Hussain, and Nitish Kumar Reddy picked up one wicket each.
