CM Bhupendra Patel Orders Prioritization of Health, Electricity, Sanitation, and Roads in Vadodara Post-Flood
Gandhinagar : Chief Minister Shri Bhupendra Patel visited Vadodara to conduct a thorough review of the relief operations carried out by the district administration in response to the heavy rainfall. After the floods caused by the Vishwamitri River, the Chief Minister inspected the arrangements for affected residents and inquired about their well-being.
CM stated that while extensive efforts have been made to rescue residents stranded by the floodwaters and relocate them to safety, the focus must now shift to post-flood recovery. During the meeting, the Chief Minister directed officials to prioritize sanitation, health, electricity, and road maintenance in Vadodara city and district. He mentioned that teams from other municipalities have been allocated to Vadodara for cleaning operations. The state government has sent all necessary assistance and equipment to intensify the cleaning efforts. The Chief Minister also mentioned that approximately 1,400 healthcare workers and 10 teams from other districts have been deployed to Vadodara for health screening. These teams are actively involved in surveillance, fogging, and chlorination activities. Additionally, he mentioned that 90 teams are operational in Vadodara city and district for cash assistance, home repairs, and damage assessment. Furthermore, 52 teams are working on assessing agricultural crop losses. The CM noted that the power supply in Vadodara city and district had been affected by the heavy rains but is being swiftly restored.
He stated that to date, 2.74 lakh food packets and 1.07 lakh water bottles have been distributed to flood-affected people in Vadodara city and district. Relief materials will continue to be delivered in phases to those in need. He also mentioned that, for the rescue of people stranded in floodwaters, three Army columns were urgently deployed. The meeting was attended by Minister of State for Home Shri Harsh Sanghavi, Principal Secretary Shri Balakrishna Shukla, Chief Secretary Shri Raj Kumar, MP Shri Hemang Joshi, Mayor Smt Pinkyben Soni, MLAs Shri Yogesh Patel, Smt. Manisha Vakil, Shri Keyur Rokadiya, Shri Chaitanya Desai, Secretary Shri Vinod Rav, OSD to Chief Minister Shri Atul Gor, Municipal Commissioner Shri Dilip Rana, Collector Shri Bijal Shah, District Development Officer Smt. Mamta Hirpara, along with other officials and dignitaries.
