Operation Sindoor Sends Clear Global Message: India Will Respond Firmly to Terrorism – Rajnath Singh

New Delhi, April 2026 : Defence Minister Rajnath Singh on Thursday said that decisive action under Operation Sindoor has sent an unambiguous global message that India is no longer bound by the old approach of limiting itself to diplomatic statements in response to terror attacks on its soil.

Addressing the National Security Summit in New Delhi, Singh said the Narendra Modi-led government has gone beyond intent and rhetoric by demonstrating strong resolve through concrete action. He emphasized that India’s policy towards terrorism has fundamentally shifted, with a clear stance that any act of terror, under any circumstance, will not be tolerated.

He referred to past military responses, including surgical strikes, airstrikes, and Operation Sindoor, as clear manifestations of India’s firm and uncompromising approach to national security.

On Pakistan’s continued support for terrorism, the Defence Minister remarked, “Both India and Pakistan attained independence at the same time. However, today India is recognised globally for IT – Information Technology, while Pakistan is regarded as the epicentre of a different IT – International Terrorism.”

Singh highlighted Operation Sindoor as a strong example of coordination and synergy among the Indian Armed Forces. He said the Indian Army, Navy, and Air Force worked together under a unified operational plan, proving that India’s military strength no longer functions in isolated units but as an integrated and globally capable force.

He further stated that India executed Operation Sindoor entirely on its own terms—deciding when to begin and when to conclude the operation. “We targeted, with absolute precision, only those responsible for the attack. The operation was not halted due to any limitation of capability but was concluded strictly on our terms,” he said.

Singh added that India was fully prepared for prolonged engagement if required and possesses the necessary surge capacity to rapidly scale up its defence capabilities during crises.

Reiterating the government’s firm stance, he said India’s response to terrorism has evolved from reactive to proactive, ensuring that any threat to national security will be met with decisive and calibrated action.

The Defence Minister’s remarks underline a broader strategic shift in India’s security doctrine, focusing on deterrence, precision, and joint military strength to counter evolving security challenges.
