Serchhip, May 2026: Chief Minister Lalduhoma on Friday attended the Serchhip Sub-Headquarters YMA Inkhawmpui (general assembly) held at Thenzawl Auditorium at 7 PM.

Addressing the gathering, the Chief Minister spoke about the importance of unity among the Mizo community. He noted that a renewed sense of Mizo identity is emerging in regions such as Manipur and the Chin Hills. He also mentioned that with the recent surrender of arms by HPC-D (LF), there are no longer any underground militant groups based on ethnic lines in Mizoram. He credited the Young Mizo Association (YMA) for its significant role in maintaining peace and unity and expressed his gratitude to the organization.

Encouraging the youth, Lalduhoma emphasized the need for moral discipline and a strong character. He urged young people to stay away from substance abuse and prepare themselves to compete at the national level by appearing for competitive examinations. He stressed that success can be achieved through dedication, hard work, and determination.

Highlighting developmental initiatives in the region, the Chief Minister outlined several key projects being undertaken by the government. These include the ongoing Thenzawl Peace City Project and the SASCI Green Field City initiative. Efforts are also underway to extend railway connectivity to Thenzawl.

He further informed that a new PWD Sub-Division has already been opened in Biate, and road development works, including the improvement of roads between Artahkawn and Biate as well as Tuipui-related infrastructure, will be taken up soon.

In addition, a multipurpose hall will be constructed in Sialhawk, while the augmentation of the water supply scheme in N. Vanlaiphai is currently under trial run. Plans are also being explored to develop the Mat River into a multipurpose dam.

The Chief Minister added that steps are being taken to upgrade the road connecting Aizawl and Thenzawl into a National Highway.
