Lucknow, May 2026 : After increasing the honorarium of Shiksha Mitras, the Yogi Government of Uttar Pradesh has now started large-scale preparations to prioritize their recognition as well. Giving this initiative a statewide form, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath will inaugurate a grand state-level program in Gorakhpur on May 5.

With a monthly honorarium of ₹18,000, around 1.43 lakh Shiksha Mitras will be connected to this process. Through this, a clear message will go across the state that Shiksha Mitras, who strengthen the foundation of the education system, are now receiving proper recognition and support.

Notably, Shiksha Mitras have already started receiving the increased honorarium from April, and on May 5, the Chief Minister will formally launch the initiative from Baba Gambhirnath Auditorium in Gorakhpur and also interact with them. Alongside the main event at 11 AM, parallel programs will be organized in all districts to give it a wider reach.

This decision, taken for around 1.43 lakh Shiksha Mitras working in council primary schools, has now been fully implemented. Under this system, effective from April 1, 2026, 13,597 Shiksha Mitras under Basic Education and 1,29,332 under Samagra Shiksha are being paid ₹18,000 per month, strengthening their financial condition.

The Yogi Government is continuously working to improve the education sector and strengthen infrastructure. The increase in honorarium and this initiative will boost the morale of Shiksha Mitras and also give a new direction to the quality of education in schools. The event in Gorakhpur highlights the government’s commitment to education reforms.

The program will be broadcast live on Doordarshan and on the Chief Minister’s official social media handles, so that Shiksha Mitras across the state can witness the occasion. At the same time, parallel events will be held in all districts, where participation of public representatives, officials, teachers, and Shiksha Mitras will be significant.
