Dharmendra has been appointed as the new Chief Secretary of Delhi, succeeding Naresh Kumar. A 1989-batch IAS officer, Dharmendra has built a distinguished career with notable administrative and leadership skills. He will officially assume his new role on September 1.
The central government has issued a formal order for Dharmendra’s appointment. The official order states that Dharmendra will be transferred from Arunachal Pradesh to Delhi to take over as Chief Secretary starting September 1.
Dharmendra, a prominent figure in the AGMUT cadre, has been the Chief Secretary of Arunachal Pradesh since April 19, 2022. He holds a B.Tech in Civil Engineering and has previously served as Chairman of the New Delhi Municipal Council. His extensive experience includes key roles in various Delhi government departments, such as the Revenue Department and the Delhi Municipal Corporation, as well as joint secretary positions in several central ministries.
Naresh Kumar, the outgoing Chief Secretary, had his term extended twice—first by six months after November and again in May—before the appointment of Dharmendra.
