Three Tractors Seized for Illegal Sand Transportation
Raipur, May 2026 : Three tractors involved in the illegal transportation of sand have been seized in Chhattisgarh’s Rajnandgaon district. During a patrolling operation, authorities intercepted vehicles transporting sand illegally in the Rajnandgaon and Dongargarh tehsil areas. The seized vehicles were handed over to the Chichola police station, and action is being taken under the Mines and Minerals (Development and Regulation) Act.
The Mineral Department has been continuously conducting drives against illegal mining, transportation, and storage of minerals across the district. As part of this campaign, a departmental team carried out inspections in Bundelikala and Dilapahari villages of Rajnandgaon tehsil, as well as Bhandarpur, Jamri, Paragaonkala, Paragaonkhurd, and Murmunda areas under Dongargarh tehsil.
During the inspection in the Dongargarh region, officials detected illegal sand transportation using a tractor owned by Ramesh Dadsena. Similarly, in the Murmunda area, authorities found two other tractors allegedly involved in illegal sand transportation, owned by Dhansing and Thakur Sinha.
Following the action, all three tractors were seized and handed over to the Chichola police station for further legal proceedings.
The Mineral Department stated that continuous monitoring and patrolling operations are being carried out to curb illegal excavation, transportation, and storage of minerals in the district. Officials also clarified that strict action against violators will continue in the future to prevent illegal mining-related activities.
