10 Couples Tie the Knot Under Chief Minister Kanya Vivah Yojana in Akaltara

Public Representatives Bless Newlyweds; Financial Assistance Provided for Setting Up Households

Raipur, May 2026 : A mass marriage ceremony was organised at Minimata Bhavan in Akaltara of Janjgir-Champa district under the Chief Minister Kanya Vivah Yojana. On the occasion, a total of 10 couples were united in marriage following traditional Vedic rituals and customs.

District Programme Officer Mrs. Anita Agrawal said that under this ambitious government scheme, daughters from economically weaker families are being married with dignity and proper support. As per the provisions of the scheme, a designated financial assistance amount was transferred to the bride’s bank account to help the newly married couples establish their households.

The newlyweds were also presented with saplings as a gesture symbolising wishes for a happy, prosperous, and environmentally conscious married life.

Public representatives and guests attending the event showered flower petals on the couples and blessed them for a joyful and successful married life.

Akaltara MLA Mr. Raghvendra Kumar Singh said that the Chief Minister Kanya Vivah Yojana has become a major support system for financially weaker families. He stated that the scheme is helping ensure dignified marriages for daughters while also providing economic relief to families. He presented gifts to the newly married couples and wished them a bright and prosperous future.

District Panchayat President Engineer Satyalata Anand Miri said that daughters are the strength of society. She called for the eradication of social evils such as female foeticide and child marriage and stressed that providing education, respect, and equal opportunities to girls is the collective responsibility of society.

She also extended her best wishes to the newlyweds for a happy and prosperous married life.

Among those present at the ceremony were Janpad Panchayat President Mrs. Shankun Annu Agharia, Mrs. Shanti Bharte, Mr. Pawan Yadav, Mrs. Rajni Sattu Sahu, Mr. Rajeshwar Patle, Mr. Maheshwar Tandon, Councillor Mr. Chandrashekhar Mirchanya, along with officials, staff members, and a large number of distinguished citizens.
