UP earns national recognition with ‘Exemplar’ status in LEADS 2025
Lucknow, May 2026 : The rapidly expanding multimodal logistics network stretching from Purvanchal to western Uttar Pradesh is emerging as a new pillar of the state’s economic strength. Under the leadership of Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, a comprehensive network of expressways, dedicated freight corridors, multimodal logistics hubs, airports and warehousing infrastructure is being developed, placing Uttar Pradesh among the fastest-growing logistics and connectivity hubs in the country.
This is one of the key reasons why the state has been placed in the ‘Exemplar’ category in the prestigious LEADS 2025 report.
According to the report, Uttar Pradesh has outperformed the national average and other landlocked states on key parameters such as infrastructure, logistics services, regulatory environment and digital systems.
Improvements in roads, railways, airports, terminal infrastructure, and first- and last-mile connectivity have transformed the state into a new center for investment and industrial growth.
The Purvanchal Expressway, Bundelkhand Expressway, Gorakhpur Link Expressway, Agra-Lucknow Expressway, Yamuna Express way and the Ganga Expressway developed by the Yogi government are connecting eastern, central and western Uttar Pradesh with the National Capital Region and major industrial cities.
This has accelerated freight movement and significantly improved supply chain efficiency for industries.
The state’s strategic position has been further strengthened by the Eastern and Western Dedicated Freight Corridors.
The multimodal logistics hub being developed at Dadri in Greater Noida at a cost of over Rs 7,000 crore is set to become a major center for cargo, container movement and warehousing in northern India.
At the same time, new logistics parks are being developed at Boraki Railway Station as well as in Kanpur, Gorakhpur and Tappal-Bajna.
In addition, there are plans to develop integrated manufacturing and logistics clusters along the Ganga Expressway corridor in Meerut, Hapur, Amroha, Sambhal, Badaun, Shahjahanpur, Hardoi, Unnao, Raebareli, Pratapgarh and Prayagraj.
These projects are expected to significantly strengthen manufacturing, warehousing and supply chain networks across the state.
The agri-logistics and warehousing sector is also witnessing rapid expansion in Uttar Pradesh.
Multi-commodity cooling centers, cold storage units and modern logistics facilities are strengthening the storage and distribution systems for agricultural products.
Dedicated warehousing facilities are also being developed for e-commerce, retail, food processing and export-oriented industries.
The Noida International Airport at Jewar is emerging as one of northern India’s largest aviation and cargo gateways. Its direct connectivity with expressways and freight corridors is helping create a world-class multimodal logistics ecosystem in western Uttar Pradesh.
Alongside this, river-based logistics are also being strengthened through the Varanasi Multimodal Terminal and the inland waterways network, which will promote low-cost cargo transportation and multimodal freight integration.
The state government has implemented several reforms to promote investment in the logistics and warehousing sector.
Through the ‘Nivesh Mitra’ single-window system and GIS-based digital planning tools, the approval process has been made faster and more transparent.
Investment proposals worth thousands of crores of rupees have already been approved in the logistics and warehousing sector in the state.
Uttar Pradesh’s achievement in LEADS 2025 is proof that the state is no longer merely a landlocked region, but is steadily emerging as a major center for India’s future supply chain, manufacturing and economic growth.
