President Draupadi Murmu Visits Shri Ambabai Temple in Kolhapur
Kolhapur : President of India, Draupadi Murmu, performed the traditional kunkumarchan Abhishek and other rituals at the Karveer Niwasini Shri Ambabai Devi temple. She also participated in the Ekarati, Pancharati, and Karpuraarti ceremonies, and took darshan of the Devi. Accompanying her were her daughter, Itishree Murmu, and her brother, Tarinisen Tudu.
Governor C.P. Radhakrishnan, Union Minister of State for Youth and Sports Raksha Khadse, Member of Parliament Darishsheel Mane, Collector and President of the West Maharashtra Temple Management Committee Amol Yedge, Kolhapur Municipal Commissioner Dr. K. Manjulakshmi, Zilla Parishad Chief Executive Officer S. Karthikeyan, Special Inspector General of Police Sunil Phulari, Superintendent of Police Mahendra Pandit, Assistant Commissioner Sameer Mujawar, Additional Commissioner Rahul Rokade, Deputy Superintendent of Police Priya Patil, and Revenue Deputy Collector Dr. Sampat Khilari were also present during the visit.
Collector Amol Yedge initially welcomed President Draupadi Murmu and Governor C.P. Radhakrishnan with a bouquet of flowers. After the darshan, President Murmu learned about the history of the Shri Ambabai Devi temple from Collector Yedge and inspected the temple’s stone chandeliers and sculptures. Collector Yedge also provided her with information about the temple’s Kironotsava festival. President Murmu expressed her satisfaction with the visit and the darshan of the Goddess.
Temple Secretary Shivraj Naikwade noted that this marks the first time in the history of the Shri Ambabai Temple that the President of India has visited and taken darshan of the Goddess.
