Estimates Committee Reviews Urban Local Body Schemes Under Autonomous Governance Department; Focus on Strengthening Urban Infrastructure
Jaipur, May 2026: A meeting of the Estimates Committee of the Rajasthan Legislative Assembly was held on Thursday at the Directorate of Local Bodies (DLB) headquarters, where various schemes, projects, and development works under the Autonomous Governance Department were reviewed in detail.
During the meeting, committee members held extensive discussions on the progress of departmental schemes, urban development initiatives, and public service delivery mechanisms. Key focus areas included strengthening basic urban infrastructure and improving citizen services across urban local bodies.
Information regarding the current status of essential services such as sanitation systems, drinking water supply, sewerage networks, roads, and street lighting in urban areas was presented before the committee. The progress of online services and various welfare schemes aimed at improving citizen convenience was also reviewed.
Secretary of the Autonomous Governance Department Ravi Jain presented updates on major schemes including the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (Urban), AMRUT 2.0, Mukhyamantri Urban Employment Guarantee Scheme, Annapurna Rasoi Yojana, Swachh Survekshan, and other ongoing initiatives.
During the meeting, Committee Chairperson Sandeep Sharma said that urban local bodies will play a crucial role in achieving the vision of Viksit Bharat@2047. He stressed that essential public services such as issuance of land pattas, land conversion, name transfer, birth and death certificates, street lighting, sanitation, and marriage registration must be completed promptly and without unnecessary delays. He further emphasised that administrative files should not be kept pending without justification.
Committee members provided several suggestions to ensure more effective implementation of schemes, strengthening of urban infrastructure, and expansion of civic amenities. They also stressed the importance of timely and quality completion of development works.
The meeting was attended by committee members Amit Chachan, Arjun Lal, Chhotu Singh, Vishwaraj Singh Mewar, and Suresh Modi, along with Executive Director of RUDSICO Harimohan Meena, Additional Director of the Autonomous Governance Department Seema Kumar, and Dr Garima Sharma.
