Conservation and Cleanliness of Water Sources Are Our Collective Responsibility: Omprakash Bhadana

Participates in Shramdaan at Lesarda Stepwell Under ‘Vande Ganga Jal Sanrakshan Jan Abhiyan’; Inspects Gaushala

Jaipur, May 2026: Devnarayan Board Chairman Omprakash Bhadana visited Lesarda village in Bundi district on Saturday and participated in a cleanliness drive under the ‘Vande Ganga Jal Sanrakshan Jan Abhiyan’ (Vande Ganga Water Conservation Public Campaign). As part of the initiative, he performed shramdaan (voluntary community service) at the village’s ancient stepwell, spreading awareness about cleanliness and water conservation. During the drive, he personally swept the premises and took part in cleaning the stepwell.

Addressing the villagers present on the occasion, Bhadana said that preserving traditional water sources and maintaining cleanliness in villages is a shared responsibility of every citizen. He emphasized that public assets and resources created by the government should be properly maintained by the community. He stated that the government’s objective is to encourage maximum public participation in the Vande Ganga Water Conservation Campaign and appealed to residents to make cleanliness a part of their daily lives while remaining conscious of environmental protection.

Directions for Removal of Dirty Water, Peepal Tree Worship Performed

During the cleanliness drive, Bhadana instructed officials to remove the stagnant and polluted water accumulated in the stepwell to further improve its cleanliness and usability. He also suggested organizing community-led cleaning of the village pond with the participation of MGNREGA workers and local residents through shramdaan.

Later, he performed a traditional Peepal tree worship ceremony within the stepwell premises in accordance with religious customs and rituals.

Inspection of Devnarayan Gaushala

Prior to the stepwell visit, the Devnarayan Board Chairman inspected the Devnarayan Gaushala located in Lesarda village. He offered prayers to the cows and fed them jaggery with his own hands. During the visit, he reviewed the facilities available at the gaushala and obtained detailed information regarding the care, maintenance, and welfare of the cattle housed there.

A large number of local residents and officials were present during the programme, including District President Rameshwar Meena, Mandal President Narendra Meena, Vinod Nama, Yogendra Shringi, Lalit Nama, Tehsildar Ravi Sharma, Development Officer Bhanu Pratap Singh Hada, and Gram Sevak Hemraj Verma.

The event highlighted the importance of community participation in water conservation, environmental protection, and preservation of traditional water bodies, while also promoting awareness about cleanliness and sustainable rural development.
