Chief Minister Appeals to Citizens to Arrange Water for Birds at Homes, Parks and Public Places
New Delhi, June 2026 : Delhi Chief Minister Smt. Rekha Gupta attended the ‘Viksit Malviya Nagar Sankalp Samaroh’ held in the Malviya Nagar Assembly constituency on Sunday. The event also featured a collective listening session of Hon’ble Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi Ji’s popular programme, Mann Ki Baat. As part of the government’s commitment to girl child empowerment, the Chief Minister distributed bicycles to 15 meritorious and economically underprivileged girl students. On the occasion, she also installed water pots for birds, conveying a message of environmental conservation and compassion towards animals and birds. The Chief Minister said that ensuring the availability of water for birds and other living beings during the ongoing spell of extreme heat is a collective responsibility. She appealed to citizens to place water for birds at their homes, parks, and public places.
The programme was held at the NCUI Auditorium on Sri Aurobindo Marg and was attended by New Delhi MP Ms. Bansuri Swaraj, Malviya Nagar MLA Shri Satish Upadhyay, local residents, public representatives, social workers, students and several other dignitaries. On the occasion, the Chief Minister inaugurated an exhibition showcasing local development works and reviewed information related to ongoing development projects and public welfare initiatives in the area. While observing the various initiatives on display, she said that the vision of a developed Delhi can be achieved only through strong local infrastructure, improved public amenities and active public participation. The gathering also collectively listened to Hon’ble Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi Ji’s popular programme, ‘Mann Ki Baat’.
On the occasion, the Uma Niranjan Foundation, an organisation associated with MLA Satish Upadhyay, distributed bicycles to 15 meritorious and economically disadvantaged girl students to promote education and women’s empowerment. Presenting the bicycles, the Chief Minister said that easy access to education is the right of every daughter and that such initiatives play an important role in helping girls become self-reliant and confident. She said the government’s goal is to build a society where no girl’s education is hindered by economic or social barriers. Extending her best wishes to the students, she encouraged them to realise their dreams through education and contribute meaningfully to nation-building.
During the programme, the establishment of sports clubs and cultural clubs in the Malviya Nagar area was also announced. The Chief Minister said that promoting sports, culture and creative activities is essential for channeling the energy of young people in a positive direction. Such clubs, she added, will provide opportunities for youth to develop their talents, adopt healthy lifestyles and build leadership skills.
Addressing the gathering, the Chief Minister said that the Delhi Government is continuously working towards the vision of a ‘Viksit Delhi’ by strengthening the sectors of education, healthcare, environment, sports, culture and infrastructure. She said the government’s priority is not only to accelerate development works but also to ensure that every section of society is connected to the mainstream of progress. Expressing confidence, she said that with the cooperation of public representatives, social organisations and citizens, Malviya Nagar will emerge in the coming years as a model of development, public participation and social empowerment.
