Raipur, June 2026 :Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai on Monday interacted with beneficiaries of various welfare schemes implemented by the Women and Child Development Department in Badeknera village of Kondagaon district, and reviewed the positive changes these initiatives have brought to their lives.
Addressing the gathering, the Chief Minister reiterated that the state government places the highest priority on women’s empowerment, child welfare, nutrition, safe motherhood, and economic self-reliance. He emphasized that the true purpose of government schemes is not merely to provide financial assistance but to bring lasting and meaningful improvements in people’s lives.
“When a welfare scheme directly contributes to positive transformation in the life of a citizen, the objective of good governance is truly fulfilled,” he said.
PM Matru Vandana Yojana Strengthening Safe Motherhood
During the programme, beneficiaries Manita Markam and Khemlata Korram received assistance under the Pradhan Mantri Matru Vandana Yojana.
The Chief Minister said the government is committed to ensuring that pregnant women receive timely nutrition, healthcare services, and medical support. He noted that the scheme is emerging as a strong foundation for improving maternal and newborn health while promoting safe motherhood.
Mahtari Vandan Yojana Empowering Women Financially
Beneficiaries of the Mahtari Vandan Yojana, including Santoshi Bhoyar, who runs a home-based beauty parlour, and Sampatti Manikpuri, engaged in vegetable trading, shared how the monthly financial assistance has helped meet household expenses and support their small businesses.
The Chief Minister described the scheme as a significant step toward enhancing women’s economic independence.
“The scheme has boosted women’s confidence and enabled them to play a more active role in managing family finances. Financially empowered women strengthen both families and society,” he said.
Annaprashan Ceremony for Children
As part of the programme, Anju Korram and Padmini Netam participated in the traditional Annaprashan ceremony for their children.
Mothers were also provided guidance on child nutrition, immunisation, and healthcare. The Chief Minister highlighted the importance of proper nutrition during the early years of a child’s life, describing it as essential for physical and mental development.
God Bharai Ceremony Celebrates Motherhood
Under the God Bharai (baby shower) programme, pregnant women Manita Markam and Gudiya Markam were honoured.
They were informed about the importance of regular health check-ups, balanced nutrition, safe delivery practices, and prenatal care. The Chief Minister stressed that healthy mothers form the foundation of a healthy society and that maternal care remains a key responsibility of the government.
Nutrition Kits Strengthen Fight Against Malnutrition
Children Kavyansh and Roshni received Suposhan Kits during the event.
The Chief Minister stated that creating a malnutrition-free Chhattisgarh remains one of the government’s major priorities. Through nutrition kits, mothers and children are receiving essential nutritional support, contributing to healthier communities across the state.
Saksham Yojana and Mahila Kosh Promoting Self-Reliance
Beneficiary Manai Yadav received support under the Saksham Yojana, which focuses on skill development, employment, and self-employment opportunities for women.
Additionally, financial assistance was provided to the Ekta Self-Help Group of Badeknera under the Chhattisgarh Mahila Kosh.
The Chief Minister said self-help groups have become vital pillars of the rural economy, fostering entrepreneurship, savings habits, and financial independence among women.
Hygiene Kits Distributed to Adolescent Girls
Hygiene kits were distributed to Priya Netam, Mahima, Nandini Patel, Pushpa Nayak, and Hina.
The Chief Minister emphasized the need to raise awareness among adolescent girls about health, nutrition, and hygiene, noting that healthy young women form the basis of strong families and communities.
During the event, Kansoram Netam and Gandhiram Netam were honoured for their active participation in child care and Anganwadi activities. The Chief Minister underscored the importance of equal involvement of both parents in a child’s development.
Welfare Schemes Strengthening Public Trust
Concluding the programme, Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai said the state government is committed to ensuring that the benefits of development and welfare schemes reach the last person in society.
He expressed confidence that initiatives focused on women, children, and families would play a crucial role in building a stronger, more prosperous, and self-reliant Chhattisgarh.
“When welfare programmes become instruments of real change in people’s lives, the true purpose of good governance is achieved,” he said.
