Deputy Chief Minister Shri Vijay Sharma held a meeting with the Inspector General of Police under the division and Superintendents of Police of Bilaspur, Korba, Raigarh, Janjgir-Champa, Sakti, Mungeli, Gaurela-Pendra-Marwahi and Sarangarh-Bilaigarh districts under the range in the office of Inspector General of Police, Bilaspur. Home Minister Mr. Sharma told all the Superintendents of Police that it is the top priority of our government that along with improving law and order in all the districts, police behavior should be good among the common citizens and strict action should be taken against illegal liquor, narcotics, betting, gambling, smuggling. Describing the Superintendents of Police as the identity of the district and the government, he said that you have joined the police service with the thought of doing something better. You have taken a big responsibility, so you have to work responsibly. You should work in such a way that you do not have to speak much, your work should speak. Police action should be visible. Satisfaction should be visible in the general public. The Home Minister also directed all the SPs to sit in the office on time and meet the general public and public representatives.
In the meeting, Home Minister Shri Sharma asked the Superintendents of Police to work harder and not to adopt shortcuts for success. He instructed everyone to work with honesty and tighten the prevention of crimes including illegal liquor, betting, gambling. Strict instructions were given to the concerned Superintendents of Police to control diesel theft and scrap theft in Korba and Raigarh. To curb the incidents of scrap theft, the Home Minister directed to identify the scrap dealers and direct them to get licenses, seize ganja, heroin, doda and other intoxicants under drugs, as well as reach out to the people supplying it and take action. He directed to take action within the time limit in cases under NDPS and destroy the drugs available under the cases whose investigation has been completed by 31 August 2024. In the meeting, the Home Minister directed to take action under the Animal Cruelty Act and confiscate the seized vehicle under the PARI SOP by the government in cases of cow smuggling. He gave instructions to take action towards confiscating the property of those who have acquired property by committing crimes under smuggling under NDPS.
The Home Minister also gave instructions to monitor through the control room at the district level by installing cameras at the main squares, main roads and identified places, to connect the students of schools and colleges, NCC, Scout Guides with other awareness programs including de-addiction. He also gave instructions to get the name and mobile number of the in-charge of the police station written on the walls at important places including the Gram Panchayat Bhawan, to make a new register in the police stations, to keep a close watch on the activities of the travelers and those who come from outside. Minister Mr. Sharma gave instructions to organize training programs in the presence of subject experts to take steps to prevent the increasing cases of cyber crime in the coming time. In the meeting, Home Minister Mr. Sharma gave instructions regarding investigation by the senior constable, action on bond over, keeping one weapon in place of two arms, conducting a course for forensic audit, identifying accident prone spots, installing cameras during permission to operate a shop, and disposing of drugs after investigation and challan.

Home Minister Mr. Sharma directed all the Superintendents of Police to meet the common citizens and public representatives along with sitting in the office. Along with this, he directed them to meet the family members of the soldiers and know their problems and solve them. The Home Minister directed to conduct refresher courses for the soldiers and conduct physical tests from time to time so that the soldiers gain moral strength, better health and get information about the law. He directed to organize training at the range level in a phased manner for better investigation, training of TI, DSP, Additional SP at the state level, organizing workshops in the presence of High Court judges and advocates at the SP IG level and to organize a meeting in the SP office in the presence of IG, Prosecution Officer once in two months for information regarding prosecution related cases. In the meeting, IG Mr. Sanjeev Shukla presented agenda wise information under the range. Superintendents of Police of Bilaspur, Korba, Sakti, GPM, Janjgir-Champa, Sarangarh Bilaigarh, Mungeli presented the special works done in their districts.

Director General of Police Mr. Ashok Juneja instructed in the meeting that all SPs should meet the general public and public representatives. They should fix the time of their presence in the office. He said that SPs should have updated information about FIRs and the action taken on them. Keep a check on crime by keeping information about all the police stations and focusing on basic policing. He instructed to follow and review the instructions given regarding the scene of crime, keep the police disciplined by conducting departmental investigation on time, maintain law and order, take action against gambling, betting, alcohol and intoxicants, get information about criminals locked in lock up, return property to the victims by recovering from fraud and chit fund, take action by coordinating to get compensation to the victims in cases of Scheduled Caste and Scheduled Tribe category, keep an eye on criminals while maintaining law and order in the coming festive season, study FIR, diary and ensure compliance of the guidelines of the Hon’ble Courts.

In the meeting, Additional Chief Secretary Mr. Manoj Pingua, Home Department said that Superintendents of Police should pay attention to old cases and ensure the resolution of pending cases. He said that change is necessary with time. Talking about quick action on cases related to cyber crime and narcotics, he said that special attention should be paid to the prevention of crimes against women and children. He directed to take action against scrap thieves so that public property is not damaged through scrap business.
