Ram Mandir Trust Confirms Resignations of Champat Rai, Anil Mishra Amid Donation Misappropriation Row

Ayodhya, June 2026 : The Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Teerth Kshetra Trust on Saturday officially confirmed that it has received the resignations of its General Secretary, Champat Rai, and Trustee Anil Mishra following the controversy surrounding the alleged misappropriation of donations and offerings made at the Ram Mandir in Ayodhya.

The Trust stated that both senior functionaries submitted their resignations on Friday, citing moral responsibility in light of the allegations. The confirmation marks the first official acknowledgement of the resignations after a day of speculation and conflicting reports regarding the future of the two prominent members of the temple administration.

Issuing its first public response since the controversy surfaced, the Trust expressed deep anguish over the developments, describing itself as “shocked, hurt and extremely saddened” by the allegations relating to donations and offerings made by devotees.

The Trust clarified that while the resignations have been received, no final decision has yet been taken on whether they will be accepted. The matter will be discussed at the next meeting of the Trust, where members will deliberate on the issue before arriving at an appropriate decision.

Reaffirming its commitment to transparency and accountability, the Trust said it represents the faith of millions of devotees of Lord Ram and would ensure that a fair and impartial investigation is carried out. It stressed that preserving the confidence of devotees remains its foremost responsibility.

In a statement issued by Trust Treasurer Swami Govinddev Giri, the Trust said that legal proceedings had already commenced following the registration of a case based on the interim findings of the Special Investigation Team (SIT). It assured devotees that the investigation would continue without interference and that those found guilty would face action strictly in accordance with the law.

The Trust also sought to reassure devotees regarding the safety of valuables offered at the temple. It stated that all donations, including silver bricks, jewellery and other precious offerings, remain secure and that a comprehensive record of every item received has been properly maintained.

Highlighting its commitment to institutional transparency, the Trust said it would introduce all necessary safeguards to ensure that such incidents are not repeated in the future. It emphasised that stronger mechanisms would be put in place to protect donations and enhance public confidence in the temple’s administration.

At the same time, the Trust cautioned devotees against what it described as a “motivated campaign” aimed at maligning Sanatan Dharma through misinformation surrounding the controversy. It appealed to the public not to be misled by rumours or unverified reports circulating on social media and other platforms.

Urging devotees to rely only on official information, the Trust said it remained fully committed to protecting the sanctity of the Ram Mandir, ensuring complete transparency in the handling of offerings, and preserving the unwavering faith of crores of devotees across the country.
