Pune Court Sends Siya Goyal, Chetan Chaudhary to 14-Day Judicial Custody in Ketan Agarwal Murder Case

Pune, July 2026 : A court in Pune on Friday remanded Siya Goyal and her alleged lover Chetan Chaudhary to 14 days of judicial custody in connection with the alleged murder of 26-year-old businessman Ketan Agarwal, who was reportedly pushed off a cliff at Lohagad Fort near Pune.

The decision came after the duo’s extended police custody ended on Thursday. Investigating officers had requested an additional three days of police custody, arguing that further face-to-face interrogation of the accused was necessary. They informed the court that several digital records, including chat messages and other electronic evidence, were yet to be recovered and examined as part of the ongoing investigation.

Despite the request, the Vadgaon court declined to extend police custody and instead sent both accused to judicial custody.

Siya Goyal and Chetan Chaudhary had initially been remanded to seven days of police custody, which was later extended by four more days. During the 11-day interrogation, investigators questioned the pair on 18 key aspects of the alleged murder conspiracy and collected crucial evidence related to the case.

Meanwhile, Pune Rural Police have approached the court seeking permission to conduct polygraph (lie detector) tests on both accused. Officials said the court is expected to issue notices to the accused and obtain their consent before taking a decision on the request, as such tests require voluntary approval under legal provisions.

The investigation has also taken a fresh turn with the emergence of a new suspect. According to police sources, investigators have identified another young man, reportedly a former classmate of Chetan Chaudhary, who is believed to have had prior knowledge of the alleged conspiracy to kill Ketan Agarwal.

Police suspect that Siya and Chaudhary had discussed the alleged murder plan with him before the crime was committed. Investigators are now examining his exact role and whether he had any involvement in planning or facilitating the offence. Further action will depend on the evidence gathered during the ongoing probe.

As part of the investigation, police on Thursday took Siya Goyal to her residence, where they seized clothes believed to have been worn during the incident, along with a mobile phone and several documents considered important for the investigation.

Investigators also escorted her to a café in Pune’s Lullanagar area, where they believe the conspiracy to murder Ketan Agarwal was allegedly planned. Police recorded her statement at the location and conducted a detailed inspection to verify electronic records, surveillance footage and other evidence that could help establish the sequence of events leading up to the alleged murder.

Police believe the investigation is entering a crucial phase as forensic examination of digital devices, recovery of electronic communications and scrutiny of financial and location data continue. Authorities have indicated that more developments are likely as they analyse fresh evidence and determine the involvement of other individuals connected to the case.
