Gautam Adani Hails Skyroot’s Vikram-1 Success, Calls It a Historic Leap for India’s Private Space Sector
New Delhi, July 2026 : Adani Group Chairman Gautam Adani on Saturday congratulated Hyderabad-based Skyroot Aerospace on the successful launch of Vikram-1, describing the achievement as a defining moment for India’s private space industry and a powerful example of the country’s growing technological self-reliance under the vision of Atmanirbhar Bharat.
Taking to social media platform X, Adani praised the maiden orbital mission, saying it marked the beginning of a new era for India’s commercial space ecosystem. He noted that Vikram-1 had successfully achieved all its mission objectives during its first orbital flight, highlighting the remarkable progress made by India’s private space startups.
“History has been made as India’s private space sector enters a new era with Vikram-1 acing all mission objectives on its maiden orbital flight. True proof of what Atmanirbhar Bharat means,” Adani wrote.
The industrialist extended his congratulations to Skyroot Aerospace’s founders, Pawan Chandana and Bharat Daka, along with the company’s engineering team. He also acknowledged the critical support provided by the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) and the Indian National Space Promotion and Authorization Centre (IN-SPACe) in enabling the mission.
“Massive congratulations to Pawan Chandana, Bharat Daka, the brilliant Skyroot Aerospace team and the enablers at ISRO and IN-SPACe,” he posted.
Adani particularly lauded the youthful talent behind the mission, pointing out that the average age of the Skyroot team is just 28 years. He said the accomplishment reflects the immense potential of India’s young innovators and sends a strong message to the global scientific community.
“With the average age of the team just 28 years, this is proof for the world what young India can achieve. Jai Hind!” he added.
Earlier in the day, Skyroot Aerospace scripted history by successfully launching Vikram-1 under Mission Aagaman, making India only the third country after the United States and China to have a private company capable of launching a rocket into orbit.
The landmark mission lifted off from the Satish Dhawan Space Centre (SDSC-SHAR) in Sriharikota, Andhra Pradesh, marking a major milestone in India’s rapidly expanding private space sector.
Named after Dr. Vikram Sarabhai, the father of India’s space programme, the four-stage Vikram-1 launch vehicle has been designed to provide rapid, reliable and on-demand launch services for small satellites. The seven-storey rocket is carrying its payload to a Low Earth Orbit (LEO) at an altitude of around 450 kilometres.
The successful mission is expected to significantly strengthen India’s position in the global commercial launch market while opening new opportunities for private space enterprises. It also reinforces the country’s ambition to become a leading player in the international space economy by encouraging innovation, entrepreneurship and public-private collaboration in the space sector.
