Principal Secretary Reviews Development Initiatives During Three-Day Kendujhar Visit

Kendujhar, July 2026 : Principal Secretary to the Government, Social Security & Empowerment of Persons with Disabilities Department, Shri Suresh Kumar Vasisth, I.A.S, arrived in Kendujhar on Tuesday on a three-day visit as the district’s designated nodal secretary to review the implementation of various government welfare schemes and flagship development programmes.

Chairing a high-level review meeting at the Darbar Hall of the District Collectorate, Shri Vasisth assessed the progress of key initiatives across departments and emphasised the need for efficient, transparent and time-bound implementation to ensure that the benefits of government programmes reach every eligible beneficiary.

Addressing district officials, the Principal Secretary urged all departments to work with greater commitment and coordination while giving special emphasis to strengthening social security measures, empowerment of persons with disabilities and rural development programmes.

A detailed review of the departmental performance was undertaken during the meeting. Under the Antyodaya Griha Yojana, officials were directed to expedite the completion of under-construction and pending houses, particularly those sanctioned for persons with disabilities and other vulnerable categories. The progress of the Madhubabu Pension Yojana, Banishree Scholarship, Sahaya rehabilitation centre for destitute persons and the Setu Bandha Yojana was also reviewed.

The meeting assessed the implementation of the Har Ghar Jal initiative to provide safe drinking water to every household and reviewed sanitation measures being undertaken under the Swachh Bharat Mission. Progress of urban drinking water supply projects under the AMRUT scheme was also examined.
In the education sector, the Principal Secretary reviewed the implementation of Panchasakha Shiksha Setu, the Chief Minister’s Education Award, PM SHRI Schools, and the Basic Literacy and Numeracy Programme for the academic year 2026–27.

The review also covered key initiatives of the Women and Child Development Department, including Poshan Abhiyan, Mukhyamantri Sampurna Pushti Yojana and Mamata Yojana. Officials informed the meeting that four instalments under the Subhadra Yojana had been successfully disbursed. The construction of Anganwadi centres and the development of facilities under PM JANMAN and Sahay Anganwadi Kendras were also discussed.
Special focus was given to tribal welfare programmes, including the Dharti Aaba Janjatiya Gram Utkarsh Abhiyan, Pradhan Mantri Janjati Adivasi Nyaya Maha Abhiyan (PM-JANMAN), PM Anusuchit Chhatra Abhyudaya Yojana, and the Madho Singh Handicapped Scholarship Scheme for tribal students.

The meeting further reviewed the implementation of the Shree Anna (Millet) Mission, Mukhyamantri Kamdhenu Yojana, institutional credit support for farmers, and various initiatives of the Food Supplies and Consumer Welfare Department. Progress under the PM Vishwakarma Yojana, and PM Surya Ghar: Muft Bijli Yojana was also assessed. Officials of TPNODL presented updates on solar electrification, grid infrastructure and grievance redressal mechanisms in the district.

The review meeting was attended by District Collector Shri Vishal Singh, DMF Chief Executive Officer Dr. Rina Pradhan, Additional District Magistrate Shri Mandardhar Mahalik, Chief Development Officer-cum-Executive Officer, Zilla Parishad, Shri Kumar Nagabhushan, Project Director DUDA Shri Sukant Majhi, Sub Collector Shri Umashankar Dalai, and senior officers from various departments.
