Accident Insurance Scheme for Sanitation Workers
The National Safai Karamcharis Commission, in collaboration with India Post, has launched an accident insurance scheme worth Rs. 10 lakhs, called the Antyodaya Shramik Suraksha Yojana, for sanitation workers, said Dr. PP Vava, a member of the National Safai Karamcharis Commission. He was speaking at a press conference following a meeting with councilors and officials from various departments at the Thaikad Sarkar Guest House.
The annual premium for the Antyodaya Shramik Suraksha Yojana insurance plan is Rs. 499. Dr. PP Vava also mentioned that, through the National Safai Karamcharis Financial Development Corporation, self-employment training projects for sanitation workers in the agriculture, industry, and service sectors are being implemented with the support of both central and state governments.
Insurance Scheme State Nodal Officer Adv. Gopi Kochuraman and India Post Payment Bank Chief Manager M. Murukesan were also present at the press conference.
