Progress of National Highway Works and Indian National Highway Projects: A Review Meeting

Chennai : In connection with the advancement of National Highway works and Indian National Highway projects, a review meeting was conducted today by the honorable officials from the National Highways Authority. The meeting addressed the current status of these projects and discussed challenges and potential solutions.

During the meeting, Honorable Minister for Road Transport and Highways, Mr. T.K. S.S.R. Ramachandran, along with district collectors and other stakeholders, examined the obstacles faced in the execution of these works.

Participating in the review meeting were key officials, including Honorable Union Minister Mr. Nitin Gadkari, who highlighted the need for timely completion of these national highway projects. He noted that the projects are vital for enhancing connectivity and overall economic development.

Issues related to land acquisition, high-tension power lines, and environmental clearances were identified as major challenges impeding progress. The officials expressed their commitment to address these hurdles swiftly.

Five national highway projects remain incomplete. The honorable minister indicated that with proper coordination among the departments, progress can be achieved in the near future. He mentioned that the projects include three national highways spanning 121 km, and additional work for maintenance and rehabilitation.

The Indian National Highway projects under review involve 13 projects with a total length of 384 kilometers, which face delays due to land acquisition, encroachments, and other obstacles. The officials acknowledged the urgent need to resolve these issues to ensure timely completion.

The review also included discussions on obtaining the necessary approvals for various highway projects and resolving the pending court cases related to these projects.

In summary, the meeting focused on the urgent need to accelerate the implementation of national highway works, ensuring that all relevant stakeholders collaborate effectively to overcome existing challenges and meet project timelines.
