Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi laid the foundation stone of Bhatgaon Water Supply Scheme through video conferencing
Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi laid the foundation stone of a water supply scheme worth Rs 56 crore 78 lakh for Bhatgaon Nagar Panchayat of Surajpur district through video conferencing from Vigyan Bhavan, New Delhi on Gandhi Jayanti today. The work of this water supply scheme approved under Amrit Mission 2.0 will be completed in the next two years. Deputy Chief Minister and Urban Administration and Development Minister Shri Arun Saw joined the programs organized in New Delhi and Bhatgaon from Bilaspur virtually. Along with him, MLA from Bilaspur Shri Dharamlal Kaushik, Shri Dharmjit Singh, Shri Sushant Shukla and District Panchayat President Shri Arun Singh Chauhan also joined the programs organized at both places online.

After the virtual address of Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi, Deputy Chief Minister Shri Arun Saw also addressed the people present in Bhatgaon virtually. He said that after the start of this new water supply scheme, the problem of drinking water of Bhatgaon residents will be solved. The water of Mahan river will be cleaned and supplied to the houses. After the completion of the scheme, the people of Bhatgaon will be able to get 135 liters of water per person per day as per the national standard. Shri Saav said that we have created the state of Chhattisgarh and the responsibility of its development is also ours. He instructed the concerned officials to complete all the construction works related to the scheme within the time limit with high quality.

In this water supply scheme approved under Mission Amrit 2.0 at a cost of Rs 56 crore 78 lakh, drinking water will be supplied to Bhatgaon by constructing an intake well in the Gonda Anicut of Mahan River. Clean drinking water will be made available to Bhatgaon city by purifying surface water through a raw-water pipeline from the Anicut in the water purification plant proposed under the scheme. At present, 49 liters of water is available per person per day in Bhatgaon city. After the start of this new water supply scheme of Bhatgaon, 135 liters of drinking water will be made available per person per day.
Under the Bhatgaon Jal Praday Yojana, a water purification plant of 2 MLD capacity, three high level water reservoirs of 750 kilo liter capacity, 64 km distribution pipeline and a total of 3586 private tap connections will be provided. The work order for this has been issued in the month of August. The target has been set to complete the work of the scheme in the next 24 months.
