Chief Minister Attends Seminar On Cyber Crime In Hmanpui

Serchhip : Today, the MJA General Headquarters organized a seminar on cyber crime at the Serchhip Press Club. The event was attended by the local MLA, Mr. Lalduhoma, who is also the Chief Minister. The MJA plans to conduct similar seminars on cyber crime across all districts, inviting local MLAs to participate.

In his speech, Mr. Lalduhoma emphasized the significant strides Mizoram has made in the field of information technology. However, he also noted that criminals are exploiting these advancements to commit cyber crimes. He stressed the importance of public awareness and vigilance to protect against such crimes, stating that the public needs to be better informed. He expressed appreciation for the seminar organized by journalists today, hoping that it would help raise awareness among the public.

Mr. Lalduhoma also shared that the Mizoram government established the Cyber Crime Police Station on May 20, 2022, and within a year, 158 cases have been registered. In 2023, 72 cases were reported, and so far this year, 33 cases have been registered. He underscored the need to educate the public on how to safeguard themselves and emphasized that law enforcement officers must be thoroughly trained to combat cybercrime.

He warned about increasing cyber threats as technology evolves and urged vigilance in countering these threats. Additionally, he highlighted the importance of combating external threats, saying that foreign entities attempt to destabilize the country through malicious online activities. He called for unity and resilience in the face of such challenges.

The seminar was chaired by Mr. C. Lalrambuatsaiha, President of MJA Headquarters. Mr. C. Lalhminghlua, President of Serchhip, also delivered a welcome address, while Mr. K. Zothanpara, General Secretary of MJA Headquarters, and Mr. T. Biakchamliana, Secretary of MJA Serchhip, presented reports. Mr. Zonunsanga, Additional SP of CID Crime, also gave a presentation on cyber crime.

The MJA General Headquarters plans to conduct similar seminars across all districts. Tomorrow, a seminar will be held in Lawngtlai.
