Naim Qassem: Hezbollah Stands Firm in Support of Palestinian Resistance

Sheikh Naim Qassem, Deputy Secretary-General of Hezbollah, reiterated the group’s unwavering support for the Palestinian resistance, despite increasing pressures from Israel and its international allies. He emphasized that attempts to intimidate Hezbollah and other resistance movements would not prevail, crediting Hezbollah’s leader, Sayyed Hassan Nasrallah, as the driving force behind their resilience.

Reflecting on the one-year anniversary of the Al-Aqsa Flood, Qassem described it as a turning point in the Middle East conflict. He argued that Israel’s primary goal is the elimination of Palestinian resistance to maintain control over the region and suppress the Palestinian people, preventing future uprisings.

Qassem condemned Israel’s military actions, asserting, “What Israel is doing is not war, but murder of humanity.” He accused Israel of receiving unconditional support from the U.S. and certain European nations, suggesting that without this assistance, Israel’s military campaign would have faltered within a month.

The Hezbollah leader warned that Israel’s actions are not just a threat to Palestinians but also to Lebanon and the entire region. He announced the formation of a Lebanese support front to provide aid to Gaza and help ensure victory for the resistance. He further noted that Lebanon remains a target of Israeli aggression, referencing Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s aspirations for a “new Middle East.”

Qassem explained that Israel’s strategy involves targeting Lebanese civilians and destroying residential areas to divide Hezbollah from its supporters. However, he emphasized that this approach has failed and only strengthened Hezbollah’s base.

Reaffirming Hezbollah’s military readiness, Qassem highlighted the expansion of the group’s missile and drone capabilities, which are now targeting strategic locations in Israel. He also voiced support for the political efforts within Lebanon, led by Parliament Speaker Nabih Berri, aimed at achieving a ceasefire in the region.

Addressing Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu’s claims about resettling displaced Israelis, Qassem predicted that more settlers would instead be forced to flee. He praised Hezbollah’s leadership for maintaining organizational strength and preparing contingency plans for future challenges.

Qassem underscored the strong alliance between Hezbollah and the Amal Movement, stressing their unity in both peaceful and challenging times. He expressed full confidence in Berri’s leadership and assured that Hezbollah’s internal election procedures, including for the position of Secretary-General, would proceed smoothly.

In conclusion, Qassem stated that Hezbollah remains focused on the situation on the ground and will not engage in negotiations until a ceasefire is achieved.
