Blinken Approved Israeli Strikes on Humanitarian Aid Trucks in Gaza

A report by Drop Site News (DSN), citing Israeli journalists and media, claims that U.S. Secretary of State Anthony Blinken approved Israeli strikes on humanitarian aid convoys in Gaza during the early stages of what DSN describes as Israel’s “genocide” against Palestinians.

The alleged approval was said to have been granted during intense Security Cabinet meetings held between October 16 and 17, 2023, in Tel Aviv. Blinken reportedly participated in these discussions at Kirya, Israel’s main military headquarters, where he and Israeli officials debated the decision’s wording.

According to DSN, Channel 12 journalist Yaron Avraham reported that Blinken’s involvement culminated in an agreement around 3 a.m., authorizing Israel to target aid convoys suspected of being commandeered by Hamas. Channel 13 also confirmed that Blinken was in close contact with Israeli ministers during the discussions, with Minister of Strategic Affairs Ron Dermer serving as a mediator between Blinken’s team and the Israeli Cabinet.

On October 18, Israel made its official stance known, announcing that humanitarian supplies from Egypt, including food, water, and medicine, would be allowed into Gaza but only for civilians in the southern region. Israel warned that any aid reaching Hamas would be “thwarted,” a term commonly used to describe targeted strikes.

Israeli Finance Minister Bezalel Smotrich later revealed that the Cabinet had been assured any aid intercepted by Hamas would be bombed from the air. This policy was reportedly conveyed as a warning to Egypt.

When asked for a response, U.S. State Department spokesperson Vedant Patel called the DSN report “absurd” but did not directly address whether Blinken had indeed approved strikes on Hamas fighters allegedly seizing aid.

The DSN report also pointed out that since October 2023, Israel has been responsible for over 75% of global humanitarian worker deaths. This statistic, along with the escalation of attacks in Gaza, prompted two U.S. government offices to recommend suspending weapons shipments to Israel. However, Blinken allegedly ignored these recommendations and presented a different version of events to Congress.

These claims have added fuel to ongoing debates about U.S. involvement in the Israeli-Palestinian conflict and raised concerns about the safety of humanitarian workers in the region.
