Directives from the Minister of Health: Inspections and Maintenance of All Medical Institution Buildings to Be Completed in Two Months
Jaipur – Health Minister Shri Gajendra Singh has directed that the condition of all medical institution buildings in the region be assessed within the next two months, followed by systematic maintenance based on an integrated plan. These instructions were issued during a high-level meeting at Swasthya Bhavan, following the Minister’s inspection of Janana Hospital on Thursday.
While reviewing the issues related to hospitals affiliated with Sawai Mansingh Medical College, the Health Minister emphasized that regular maintenance of hospital buildings is crucial for ensuring the safety of patients, their families, and health workers. He instructed officials to conduct inspections of all medical institution buildings within two months, through the respective engineers, and submit a detailed report. This report should highlight any buildings that are aging or in poor condition and require repairs and maintenance.
Regular Inspections to Ensure Building Safety
Health Minister Shri Singh stressed the importance of creating an integrated plan for maintenance, rather than performing repairs piecemeal. This approach will ensure that maintenance work is carried out efficiently and to a high standard throughout entire hospital complexes. He also instructed that urgent maintenance tasks should be addressed immediately, utilizing available funds from the RMRM. The Minister further urged hospital administrations to continuously monitor the condition of buildings and, in case of any structural threats, to take immediate action by cordoning off affected areas and making necessary repairs. Additionally, engineers from the Public Works Department (PWD) should regularly monitor the buildings under their jurisdiction.
Inter-Departmental Meetings to Resolve Issues
Medical Education Secretary Shri Ambarish Kumar suggested that regular inter-departmental meetings be held to address maintenance issues and other concerns related to hospital infrastructure. He called for the PWD to submit maintenance proposals promptly. He also stressed the need to address staffing requirements in hospitals, ensuring the provision of high-quality medical care to patients.
