Rajasthan Delegation Aims to Boost Cooperation with Singapore in Key Sectors
Jaipur : Continuing its outreach in Singapore for the ‘Rising Rajasthan’ Global Investment Summit 2024, a high-level delegation led by Minister for Industries and Commerce Col. Rajyavardhan Rathore met with officials from key government agencies, including the Public Utilities Board (PUB), the Land Transport Authority (LTA), and the Singapore Tourism Board. The delegation discussed opportunities for cooperation in sustainable water management, urban land transport, and tourism, aiming to enhance mutual collaboration between Singapore and Rajasthan.
On the third and final day of their Singapore tour, the delegation visited the premises of the national water agency, PUB. They learned about PUB’s initiatives to reduce the carbon footprint and promote recycled water usage. Minister Rathore commended PUB’s efforts, stating, “Rajasthan has successfully managed its water needs by adopting various canal and water storage systems despite geographical challenges. We aim to learn from PUB’s successful model and explore its implementation in Rajasthan.”
Following this, the delegation visited the LTA to discuss potential collaboration in sustainable public transport and the development of cycling and pedestrian infrastructure. They toured the LTA facilities and learned about major public transport projects and emerging technologies for future land transport.
The delegation also met with officials from Changi Airport and the Singapore Tourism Board to explore cooperation in tourism and hospitality. They proposed encouraging foreign tourists from Singapore to visit Rajasthan through an international tourism and entertainment center in Jaipur and discussed establishing direct air service between Singapore and Jaipur. The Singapore Tourism Board officials promised to consider these proposals and invited Rajasthan travel agents to a tourism event organized by the National Association of Travel Agents later this month.
In the final leg of their 4-day Singapore tour, the delegation met with executives of Mapletree Investments, a leading real estate developer specializing in logistics infrastructure. Minister Rathore highlighted Rajasthan as a strategic investment destination due to its ample land and proximity to Delhi. He invited Mapletree to explore opportunities in Rajasthan and participate in the upcoming ‘Rising Rajasthan’ Global Investment Summit 2024. Mapletree officials expressed interest in establishing a logistics center in Rajasthan as they aim to expand their operations beyond Pune, Mumbai, and Chennai.
With today’s meetings, this phase of the Investor Meet and International Outreach organized in Singapore under the ‘Rising Rajasthan’ Global Investment Summit 2024 has concluded. A high-level delegation from the Rajasthan government, including Minister of Industries and Commerce Col. Rajyavardhan Rathore, Chief Secretary Mr. Sudhansh Pant, Principal Secretary (Medical and Health) Ms. Gayatri Rathore, and other senior officials, will now return to the state.
To ensure the success of the ‘Rising Rajasthan’ Global Investment Summit 2024, which is being organized under the leadership of Hon’ble Chief Minister Mr. Bhajan Lal Sharma, the State Government is conducting continuous meetings with large domestic and foreign investors, organizations, and top corporate executives. This effort aims to attract significant investments in the region and progress toward the goal of a ‘Developed Rajasthan.’
In the past month, investor roadshows have been held in Delhi, Mumbai, Seoul (South Korea), Tokyo and Osaka (Japan), Dubai and Abu Dhabi (United Arab Emirates), and Doha (Qatar). These initiatives are designed to connect investors with Rajasthan, invite them to invest in the state, and inform them about the investor-friendly policies and opportunities established by the state government. As a result of this extensive outreach, the Government of Rajasthan has received investment proposals (MoUs) worth over Rs 12.55 lakh crore, reflecting the tremendous confidence of investors and the business community in the state government’s efforts.
‘Rising Rajasthan’ Global Investment Summit 2024 at a Glance: The ‘Rising Rajasthan’ Global Investment Summit 2024 will be held in the capital, Jaipur, on December 9, 10, and 11 this year. It is organized by the Government of Rajasthan in collaboration with the Department of Industries and Commerce, the Bureau of Investment Promotion (BIP), and the Rajasthan State Industrial Development and Investment Corporation (RICO), with BIP as the nodal department.
The objective of this three-day mega summit is to invite domestic and foreign companies, international organizations, and investors to establish various industries and businesses in the state and provide necessary facilities. Special sessions will focus on sectors including Agriculture, Renewable Energy, Education & Skills, Auto & Electric Vehicles (EVs), Infrastructure, Chemical & Petro-Chemical, Tourism, Startups, Mining, and ESDM/IT and ITeS.
The Singapore leg of the Investor Roadshow is being organized in collaboration with the Indian High Commission and the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII), which serves as the Summit Industry Partner for the ‘Rising Rajasthan’ Global Investment Summit 2024. Additionally, PwC is the Knowledge Partner for the India Investment Summit.
