Navi Mumbai International Airport and NAINA Projects Will Make Maharashtra a Powerhouse – Chief Minister Eknath Shinde

Thane : Chief Minister Shri Eknath Shinde lauded the Navi Mumbai International Airport and NAINA (Navi Mumbai Airport Influence Notified Area) as transformative projects that will position Maharashtra as an economic powerhouse. He made these remarks during the inauguration of various projects in Vashi, Navi Mumbai, today.

The successful landing of the C-295 aircraft and a flypast test of the Sukhoi-30 aircraft, conducted by the Indian Air Force at the Navi Mumbai International Airport project site, marked a major milestone. The event was attended by Chief Minister Shri Eknath Shinde, Minister of State for Civil Aviation Mr. Muralidhar Mohol, Deputy Chief Minister Shri Devendra Fadnavis, and other dignitaries.

Following the aviation display, a ceremony was held at the CIDCO Exhibition Centre in Vashi, where the Chief Minister inaugurated CIDCO’s mega housing project, which includes 26,502 flats. Other projects launched included Maharashtra Bhawan, infrastructure development in the NAINA City Project (Sectors 8 to 12), the Thane Urban Revitalization Scheme (featuring 3,833 new flats), and the groundbreaking of the Western Peripheral Route for the Navi Mumbai International Airport. The Chief Minister also inaugurated the 18-hole International Kharghar Valley Golf Course, the Spectator’s Gallery at the Center of Excellence, and the Irshalwadi Rehabilitation Project.

Prominent attendees at the event included CIDCO Chairman MLA Sanjay Shirsat, MPs Srirang Barane and Naresh Mhaske, MLAs Niranjan Dawkhare, Dnyaneshwar Mhatre, Ganesh Naik, Prashant Thakur, Smt. Manda Mhatre, and Mahesh Baldi. CIDCO Vice Chairman and Managing Director Vijay Singhal, Joint Managing Director Shantanu Goyal, and other senior CIDCO officials were also present.

Chief Minister Shinde praised CIDCO for the successful aircraft operations and highlighted the immense potential of the Navi Mumbai International Airport and NAINA City projects to drive economic growth in the Mumbai metropolitan region. He emphasized that these initiatives would significantly contribute to making Maharashtra a leading economic hub. The Chief Minister also commended CIDCO for its humanitarian efforts, notably the rapid construction of homes for the Ershalwadi landslide victims. During the event, symbolic house keys were handed over to the Ershalwadi Rehabilitation Project beneficiaries, and appointment letters were distributed to individuals from the affected community who had been offered employment on a contractual basis with CIDCO.

Additionally, a coffee table book detailing various CIDCO projects was released by the Chief Minister.

CIDCO Vice Chairman Vijay Singhal, while introducing the event, provided an overview of the major CIDCO projects being undertaken.
