Chief Minister Bhajan Lal Sharma invites Germany to become ‘Partner Country’ of ‘Rising Rajasthan’ Global Investment Summit 2024
Jaipur : The high-level delegation led by Chief Minister Shri Bhajan Lal Sharma started off its European leg of investor outreach today with holding one-on-one interaction with Excellency Dr. Florian Herrmann, Head of the Bavarian State Chancellery and Minister of State for Federal Affairs in Munich. During the meeting, Chief Minister Shri Sharma invited Germany to become a ‘Partner Country’ of the upcoming ‘Rising Rajasthan’ Global Investment Summit 2024 and offered to set-up a dedicated investment zone for the German investors in Rajasthan on the model of successful Neemrana Japanese Investment Zone.
The delegation also proposed a sister partnership between Bavaria state of Germany and the Indian state of Rajasthan with a special emphasis on renewable energy. The Chief Minister also requested Excellency Dr. Herrmann to consider setting-up an office in Rajasthan to bolster the ties between Bavaria and Rajasthan and sought support of the German government in facilitating new investments in the state. A partnership on meeting the requirements of skilled manpower of both, Bavaria and Rajasthan was also discussed during the meeting.
Besides the Chief Minister, the high-level delegation that met Excellency Dr. Herrmann included Deputy Chief Minister Ms. Diya Kumari, Shri Shikhar Agrawal, ACS to Chief Minister, Shri Shatrughna Sinha, Consul General of India at Munich and other top officials of the Government of Rajasthan.
After the meeting, Chief Minister Shri Bhajan Lal Sharma said, “Germany is one of India’s most important trade and strategic partners and possesses the world-renowned technological expertise. We had a very productive round of discussion with the representatives of the Germany government and sought their support to facilitate the sharing of technology and investment in Rajasthan. We are willing to set-up a dedicated investment zone for the German investors in Rajasthan like Neemrana Zone for Japanese investors.”
Later, the Chief Minister-led delegation also visited Munich-based Deutsches Museum, a prominent science and industry museum established in the year 1903. During the visit, discussions were held about comprehensive collaboration between the Deutsches Museum and Jaipur’s Albert Hall Museum, which includes hosting joint exhibitions, promoting cultural and historical tours, collaborating on research programs in STEM, creating internship opportunities for Rajasthani youth at the Deutsches Museum and adopting best practices for preserving other historical sites in Rajasthan. These collaborations aim to promote cultural and historical tourism to a broader audience. Jaipur’s Albert Hall Museum is celebrated for its Indo-Saracenic architecture and its extensive showcase of Rajasthan’s cultural heritage.
Afterwards, the delegation also visited the campus of SFC Energy AG, a leading producer of hydrogen and direct methanol fuel cells and invited the firm to explore investment opportunities in Rajasthan. The delegation apprised the officials of the German firm of Rajasthan’s dominant footprint in the field of renewable energy, ambitious goals towards green energy and immense scope in the field of production of fuel cells. SFC Energy officials showed interest in doing business in Rajasthan.
Earlier in the day, Chief Minister Shri Bhajan Lal Sharma and the delegation of the Rajasthan government received a warm welcome from the Rajasthan Association Germany (RAG) in Munich upon their arrival in the Germany. The delegation was greeted by Mr. Hargovind Singh Rana, Mr. Shantanu Dave, and other members of the association. During the interaction, Chief Minister Shri Sharma interacted with members of the Rajasthan-origin and invited them to strengthen their ties with the state. The delegation also held a meeting with Shri Shatrughna Sinha, Consul General of India at Munich over lunch and apprised him of the pro-business reforms being undertaken in Rajasthan to attract investment.
The Chief Minister-led delegation will meet the members of Non-Resident Rajasthani (NRR) community later today over dinner, as part of the outreach of the state government to connect with people of Rajasthan origin to reinvigorate their ties with the native state. The delegation will also impress upon the members to facilitate investment and technological collaboration in Rajasthan.
In addition to the Chief Minister and the Deputy Chief Minister, the other members accompanying the delegation include Shri Shikhar Agrawal, Additional Chief Secretary (ACS) to the Chief Minister, Ms. Arti Dogra, Chairperson – DISCOMs & Managing Director, Jaipur Vidyut Vitran Nigam Ltd, Shri Rohit Gupta, Commissioner (Industries & Investments), and other top officials of the Government of Rajasthan.
In the run-up to the ‘Rising Rajasthan’ Global Investment Summit 2024, the government of Rajasthan has planned to organize investors’ meets around the country as well as overseas. The domestic investors’ meets have already been organised in Mumbai and New Delhi whereas on the global front, the investors’ meets have so far been organised in South Korea, Japan, UAE, Qatar and Singapore. The extensive outreach has resulted in Government of Rajasthan securing Investment proposals (MoUs) worth over INR 12.75 lakh crore so far, reflecting the resounding faith of the investor and business community in State’s efforts.
About the ‘Rising Rajasthan’ Global Investment Summit 2024:
The Government of Rajasthan, led by Hon’ble Chief Minister Shri Bhajan Lal Sharma, will be hosting the ‘Rising Rajasthan’ Global Investment Summit 2024 on 9th, 10th, and 11th December 2024 in the capital, Jaipur. The 3-day mega summit, which aims to attract and facilitate global investment, innovation, and partnerships in the state, is organized with the support of the Industry and Commerce Department, Bureau of Investment Promotion (BIP), and RIICO, with BIP serving as the nodal department for this summit. During the summit, special plenary sessions will be organised on different focus sectors, including Agriculture, Renewable, Education and Skilling, Auto and EV, Infrastructure, Chemical and Petro-chemical, Tourism, Startups, Mining and ESDM/IT and ITeS and others.
The Germany leg of the investor roadshow and oureach is being organized in association with Indian Consulate in Munich and Federation of Indian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (FICCI), which is the summit partner of the ‘Rising Rajasthan’ Global Investment Summit 2024.
