A tragic building collapse occurred in Bengaluru’s Horamavu Agara area amid heavy rain, resulting in five fatalities and five injuries. The under-construction building gave way during the downpour, claiming the lives of Harman (26), Tripal (35), Mohd Sahil (19), Sathya Raju (25), and Shankar. Those injured in the incident include Jagadevi (45), Rasheed (28), Nagaraju (25), Ramesh Kumar (28), Harman (22), and Ayaj.
Rescue operations are currently underway, with teams from the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) and State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) actively searching the site. A total of 13 people have been rescued, but many are still feared trapped under the debris. Vakeel Pasawn, a laborer who narrowly escaped, described the terrifying moment when the building collapsed while he was working on the sixth floor.
Director General of Fire Services, Prashant Kumar Thakur, indicated that professional concrete cutters are being brought in to assist with the ongoing rescue efforts. Police and fire services responded swiftly, deploying teams immediately after the collapse was reported.
Efforts continue around the clock to locate and rescue any remaining survivors. This tragedy highlights the critical need for strict safety measures at construction sites, especially during extreme weather conditions.
