Property Worth ₹187 Crore Seized During Election Code of Conduct
Mumbai : The Model Code of Conduct for the 2024 Assembly Elections has been in effect since October 15, 2024. In actions taken by various state and central enforcement agencies, illegal assets, including cash, liquor, drugs, and valuable metals worth a total of ₹187.88 crore, have been seized between October 15 and 30, 2024, as reported by the Chief Electoral Officer’s office.
This accomplishment results from the vigilant efforts of enforcement agencies actively working across the state during the election period. The success is attributed to the effective functioning of police and agency checkpoints established at various locations.
The primary contributors include the State Police Department, which seized approximately ₹75 crore, the Income Tax Department with around ₹60 crore, and the State Excise Department, which accounted for about ₹11 crore.
Voters who witness any violations of the Code of Conduct can report them via the Commission’s ‘cVIGIL’ app. Information from these complaints is shared with enforcement agencies, enabling prompt action and seizures where necessary.
