Over 80,000 criminals punished so far with the help of video conferencing & e-reporting system app
Lucknow : Under its zero-tolerance policy against crime, the Yogi government is not only apprehending criminals but also ensuring they face proper justice by strengthening prosecution efforts in court through effective advocacy. Over 80,000 criminals have been brought to justice so far through strong advocacy, with modern technology playing a key role.
The Prosecution department has made significant strides in securing convictions by utilizing tools such as video conferencing, e-reporting systems, mafia management system monitoring, the e-office system, and the e-prosecution portal.
The Prosecution Department is now using video conferencing to record statements from police officers, government employees, and other officials directly at their place of residence or workplace under the Indian Civil Code-2023. This approach has streamlined both the administrative and police systems, while also saving government time and resources.
As of October 17, the department has recorded testimony from 4,450 police officers and government witnesses via video conferencing. This initiative, implemented across five districts over just four months, has already saved Rs 15 lakh, with projected annual savings reaching Rs 7 crore. Moreover, this technology-driven approach has accelerated the prosecution process, ensuring quicker convictions and enhanced witness security.
The Prosecution department collected strong evidence against criminals through e-reporting system using data analytics. Data profile of each case is being created and recorded in the computer system. This is removing any kind of error or ambiguity in the case. Besides, the review of prosecution related work has also become easy through the app. It has been connected to CM Dashboard (Darpan 2.0). Through this, high level review in various cases has become easy.
The day-to-day progress and proceedings of the cases related to the identified mafia are being closely supervised through the identified mafia management system monitoring app at the directorate level. The directorate has adopted 100% paperless and timely proceedings through the e-office system.
Moreover, in the first phase, a target has been set to connect 18 regional Additional Director Prosecution Offices and 18 Joint Director Prosecution Offices to the e-office system in the next 3 months.
The Directorate is continuously feeding data related to judicial proceedings through the e-prosecution portal. To date, data related to more than 75 lakh judicial proceedings has been fed on the e-prosecution portal till September-24.
At the same time, Uttar Pradesh has been securing the first position in the entire country in the feeding of e-prosecution portal for the last 3 years 2021, 2022 and 2023.
Special training is being given to officers and employees to get the criminals punished through effective advocacy. In this, they are being told about the use of new technical equipment and software. This is increasing the capacity of the prosecution officers and they are performing their responsibilities more accurately and effectively.
