Workshop will be organized in Raipur on vulture conservation
On the initiative of Chief Minister Shri Vishnudev Sai, the Forest Department is working towards the conservation of wildlife species on the verge of extinction in Chhattisgarh. In this episode, the Forest Department is organizing a workshop on vulture conservation at Aranya Bhawan in Nava Raipur on 15 November 2024, in which experts working for vulture conservation in different states will gather in the capital Raipur to discuss the conservation of vultures. In this workshop, experts and researchers will share their experiences and present their suggestions in the field of vulture conservation in Central India, especially in Chhattisgarh. Representatives of organizations like Bombay Natural History Society (BNHS), Bird Count India and WWF will also participate in this workshop.
It is noteworthy that six species of vultures are found in Indravati Tiger Reserve, Achanakmar Tiger Reserve, Bastar and Guru Ghasidas Tiger Reserve and other wildlife sanctuaries of Chhattisgarh, which include Long Billed Vulture, White Rumped Vulture, Egyptian Vulture, Himalayan Vulture, Eurasian Vulture, and Cinereous Vulture. Director of Jungle Safari, Shri Dhammsheel Ganvir said that vultures are very important for biodiversity, they act as natural cleaners in the environment and help prevent the spread of infection. Due to the decrease in the number of vultures, biological imbalance can occur in the environment. The objective of this workshop is to spread awareness about vulture conservation not only in Chhattisgarh but in the entire country and to promote mass participation in vulture conservation.
