Mahakumbh 2025: Land allocation for Mahakumbh institutions to follow Akhada allotments

Prayagraj, November 16

Preparations for Mahakumbh 2025, the grandest congregation of the Sanatan tradition, are gaining momentum in Prayagraj. Under CM Yogi’s visionary leadership, the foundation of a spiritual and grand Mahakumbh is being laid with meticulous planning and flawless execution.

In the first major step, the process of land allocation for akhadas—representing the revered sadhus and sanyasis who uphold Sanatan culture—has commenced. The Prayagraj Mela Authority is working closely with the All India Akhada Parishad and representatives of all akhadas to allocate land according to traditional practices.

The authority has assured that the akhadas will receive no less land than what was allotted during the previous Kumbh, ensuring continuity and respect for their traditions. Once the land allocation for the akhadas is complete, the focus will shift to providing land for other institutions involved in the Mahakumbh.

The Prayagraj Mela Authority is working tirelessly to ensure a grand Mahakumbh 2025. Alongside enhancing the beauty and infrastructure of Prayagraj city, the development of the Mahakumbh city has also begun. Construction work is underway for facilities like pontoon bridges, Ganga ghats, checkered plate roads, and other key infrastructure at the Sangam Nose.

A significant step in this direction is the allocation of land to akhadas, the spiritual homes of sadhus and saints. According to Vivek Chaturvedi, Additional Mela Officer, CM Yogi has directed that no akhada will receive less land than it was allotted during the previous Kumbh.

The land allocation process is being finalized in consultation with the All India Akhada Parishad and representatives of all akhadas. The allocation is scheduled to be completed by November 18 and 19, ensuring mutual agreement from all akharas.

The Additional Mela Officer shared that, as per tradition, land will first be allocated to the akhadas before starting the process for other institutions. Similarly, land will also be allocated to the Shankaracharyas of the four Peeths and Dandi Swamis for setting up their camps, following established customs.

The Mela Authority is providing essential facilities for the akhadas’ camps, including land, water and electricity connections, toilets, drainage, and sanitation. Additionally, during the Mahakumbh, the authority will ensure that any necessary facilities are provided to the saints and sadhus as required.
