Chief Minister Shri Vishnudev Sai called up disabled social worker and painter Shri Basant Sahu, who lives in Kurud of Dhamtari district, who is full of confidence and is a source of inspiration for many children and youth, and congratulated him on his birthday as well as on being honored with the Helen Keller Award 2024.

During the intimate discussion, Chief Minister Shri Sai told Basant Sahu that he had met him in the Jal Jagar program. We felt very happy to meet him. You have proved that difficulties are only mental challenges. With determination, even the biggest goals can be achieved. Basant Sahu said that my aim is to bring inclusiveness and equality in the society, so that every person can get equal opportunity. is noteworthy that social worker Basant Sahu has been awarded the Helen Keller Award for his unique work to protect the rights of the disabled and to provide them equal opportunities in the society. Through his art, he has kept alive the folk art, traditions and social issues of Chhattisgarh. His paintings include Chhattisgarhi folk dance, traditional costumes and contemporary problems of the society. The paintings made by Basant have been collected at various important places in India and abroad, which include Rashtrapati Bhavan, Raj Bhavan, Delhi Museum in India and many countries including USA, England, Australia. His art has earned him respect not only in Chhattisgarh, but also in the country and abroad.

Basant Sahu never let his disability become an obstacle in his path to success. Basant Sahu believes that difficulties are only mental challenges. If there is determination in the mind, no obstacle can stop a person from achieving his goals. Basant Sahu’s life is not just a story of personal struggle but it is an inspiration for all those who are facing the difficulties of life.
