Raipur: General elections of municipalities and three-tier panchayats 2024-25

Under the chairmanship of State Election Commissioner Shri Ajay Singh, a meeting of senior officials of General Administration Department, Urban Administration and Panchayat Department was held regarding the work to be done at the government level for the general elections of Nagar Palika and three-tier Panchayat 2024-25. This meeting was held in the meeting room of the Commission office located at Atal Nagar Nava Raipur. Principal Secretary of Panchayat and Rural Development Department Mrs. Niharika Barik Singh, Secretary of General Administration Department Mr. Avinash Champawat, Secretary of Urban Administration and Development Department Mr. Basavaraju S, Special Secretary of Panchayat and Rural Development Department Mr. Taran Sinha were prominently present in the meeting.

State Election Commissioner Shri Ajay Singh directed to ensure the reservation process in the state within the time limit. He said that the processes of delimitation and reservation are very important for elections, so that timely and fair elections can be conducted. Preparations were evaluated to conduct the upcoming local body elections smoothly and transparently. A review was done regarding the honorarium of polling parties and the rent of vehicles for their transportation.

Various aspects related to the election were discussed in detail in the meeting, in which State Election Commissioner Shri Ajay Singh directed the officials that all departments should work in mutual coordination, so that there is no chaos during the elections. Commissioner Shri Singh said that every stage of the electoral process will be reviewed regularly and immediate corrective steps will be taken if needed. State Election Commissioner Shri Ajay Singh said that in view of the need for election work, the vacant posts of Deputy Collector in the Commission and districts and the vacant posts of Chief Municipal Officer, Chief Executive Officer-Janpad Panchayat and Tehsildar/Naib Tehsildar in the districts should be filled.

On this occasion, all the important officers including Secretary of State Election Commission Dr. Sarveshwar Narendra Bhure, Deputy Secretary Dr. Neha Kapoor, Dr. Anupriya Mishra and Mr. Alok Kumar Srivastava were present.
