Surya Kiran Aerobatic Team Captivates Hyderabad with Stunning Display
Hyderabad: The Indian Air Force’s Surya Kiran Aerobatic Team (SKAT) amazed the crowd with a spectacular performance over Hussain Sagar Lake on Sunday. With precision and flair, the team showcased jaw-dropping aerobatic maneuvers, including loops, rolls, crosses, and somersaults, leaving spectators awestruck. The tricolor-painted skies were met with thunderous applause from an enthusiastic audience.
Adding a special touch to the event, Team Leader Group Captain Ajay Dasarathi delivered a heartfelt message from the sky, saying, “Thank you, Hyderabad! Mi Prema Ku Shukriya!!”
Formed in 1996, Surya Kiran is Asia’s only nine-aircraft aerobatic team and one of the elite few worldwide. Over the years, the team has performed more than 700 displays across India and represented the Indian Air Force at international airshows in nations such as China, Sri Lanka, Myanmar, Thailand, Singapore, and the UAE.
The team operates Hawk Mk 132 aircraft, flying in tight formations with only 5 meters of separation. Comprising 12 skilled pilots, the team is led by Su-30 MKI Pilot Group Captain Ajay Dasarathi, with Group Captain Siddhesh Karthik as Deputy Leader. Other pilots include Squadron Leaders Jasdeep Singh, Himkhush Chandel, Ankit Vashisht, Vishnu, and Diwakar Sharma, along with Wing Commanders Rajesh Kajla, Arjun Patel, Kuldeep Hooda, Allen George, and Squadron Leader Gaurav Patel.
