Vice President Shri Dhankhar launches the country’s first Geo Science Museum in Gwalior
Vice President Shri Jagdeep Dhankhar inaugurated the country’s first Geo Science Museum in Gwalior on Sunday. Governor Shri Mangubhai Patel, Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav, Union Communications and North Eastern Region Development Minister Shri Jyotiraditya Scindia, Union Minister of State for Coal and Mines Shri Satish Chandra Dubey, Assembly Speaker Shri Narendra Singh Tomar, Gwalior District In-charge and Water Resources Minister Shri Tulsiram Silawat and MP Shri Bharat Singh Kushwaha were also present in the programme. Shri Dhankar’s wife Smt. Sudesh Dhankhar was especially present on the occasion.
Vice President Shri Dhankhar inaugurated the country’s first ultramodern Geo Science Museum by unveiling the plaque and cutting the ribbon at the museum’s entrance. He also congratulated and wished the people of Gwalior for this unique gift. Accompanied by the guests while visiting the pictures, artifacts and information related to geology displayed in various museum galleries, the Vice President praised the museum.
After the inauguration of the museum, Vice President Shri Dhankhar also saw the historical buildings standing as excellent examples of architecture at Maharaj Bada. Chief Minister Dr. Yadav, Union Minister Shri Scindia and Assembly Speaker Shri Tomar apprised the Vice President of the craftsmanship and styles of the buildings of Maharaj Bada.
The country’s first ultramodern and amazing Geo Science museum, prepared by the National Science Museum Council in collaboration with Gwalior Municipal Corporation, contains unique information related to the origin of the earth, the development of mankind, human civilization and the universe. Precious objects like dinosaur eggs can be viewed by tourists at the museum. The museum provides solutions to the geology-related queries of children and adults. Along with this, the museum is also informative from a scientific point of view. Rare geological samples related to earth science have been shown in the museum through multimedia display.
Information about Earth’s origin and evolution in a gallery of the museum
The Geo Science Museum has attractively presented information about geology through two galleries with light effects. One gallery depicts the evolution of the Earth, which mentions how the Earth came into its original form and what things made it what it is. What does the Earth look like today? How lava is formed inside the Earth and how mountains are formed by volcanic eruptions. All this information has been beautifully displayed in the museum. Tourists coming here will also be able to experience an earthquake. Apart from this, there is also a description about the atmosphere and the ocean. All this has been beautifully displayed with light effects and state-of-the-art mechanical technology.
Second gallery narrates the story of the development of human civilization
The development of mankind and human civilization has been displayed very well in the second gallery of the Geo Science Museum. It also shows the origin and extinction of dinosaurs on Earth. Also, how humans originated and how their life cycle progressed. This description of the changes in the lifestyle of human civilization is also worth viewing.

Director General of Geological Survey of India Shri Asit Saha, Divisional Commissioner Shri Manoj Khatri, Inspector General of Police Shri Arvind Saxena, Collector Smt. Ruchika Chauhan, Superintendent of Police Shri Dharamvir Singh, Municipal Corporation Commissioner Shri Aman Vaishnav and officials of the Geological Survey of India were also present in the inauguration programme of the Geo Science Museum.

Vice President Shri Jagdeep Dhankhar arrived at Gwalior Airbase on Sunday. Governor Shri Mangubhai Patel, Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav and Assembly Speaker Shri Narendra Singh Tomar gave a warm welcome to the Vice President at the airport by presenting him with a bouquet of flowers. The Vice President was accompanied by his wife Smt. Sudesh Dhankhar and Union Minister for Communications and Development of North Eastern Region Shri Jyotiraditya Scindia.
