Chhattisgarh Police is one of the bravest police forces in the country – Union Home Minister Amit Shah

Today was a historic day for Chhattisgarh and Chhattisgarh Police. Union Home and Cooperation Minister Shri Amit Shah handed over the President’s Nishan (Police Colours Award-2024) to the state police in a very dignified ceremony held at the Police Parade Ground in Raipur today. This is the highest honor given to the armed forces of the country. The state has received this honor for the extraordinary services, bravery and dedication of Chhattisgarh Police in the last 24 years. Chhattisgarh is the youngest state in the country to receive this honor, which has achieved this feat in just 24 years of its formation.

Home Minister Shri Amit Shah, while congratulating Chhattisgarh Police at the Rashtrapati Nishan Investiture Ceremony, said that the President’s Police Colours Award is not just an honour, it is a symbol of service and duty. The courage and commitment shown by Chhattisgarh Police in the fight against Naxalism, organised crime and drugs is unprecedented. Chhattisgarh Police has emerged as one of the best and bravest police forces in the country. He said that the Central and State Government are fully committed to make Chhattisgarh and the country Naxal-free. Naxalism will be completely eradicated from Chhattisgarh and the country by 31 March 2026. Praising Chhattisgarh Police, Shri Shah said that it has not only maintained law and order, but has also strengthened the confidence of the public. He expressed hope that the President’s Police Colours Award will become a source of inspiration for the police force, boosting their morale and morale.

Union Home Minister Shri Shah said that it is a matter of pride for me to hand over the President’s insignia to the brave police of Chhattisgarh. This honour is a symbol of the hard work, dedication and affection of the Chhattisgarh Police towards the people. The Chhattisgarh Police is preparing to put the last nail in the coffin of the Naxalites. The police here has done a very good job in law and order and Naxal front as well as during the Corona epidemic. He appealed to the Naxalites to give up arms and return to the mainstream. Paying tribute to the country’s first Home Minister Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel on his death anniversary today, Shri Shah said that the work done by Sardar Patel to bind the country in the thread of unity has been further strengthened by Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi by removing Article 370.      

Chief Minister Shri Vishnu Dev Sai while congratulating the jawans and officers of Chhattisgarh Police said that this honour has been received by our police force for their extraordinary services and dedication towards the public in just 24 years of the formation of Chhattisgarh state. This honour will not only boost the morale of the police force but will also inspire them to work with more enthusiasm.

On the success of Chhattisgarh Police in anti-Naxal operations, the Chief Minister said that a large number of Naxalites have decided to surrender and return to the mainstream. He informed that the government has made better arrangements and special provisions for the rehabilitation of surrendered Naxalites. In accordance with the policy of the Government of India, arrangements are being made to immediately keep those who surrender and give up the path of violence in transit camps. Along with this, arrangements have been made to give them Rs 10,000 per month as stipend for three years. Training will also be provided for their skill development.

Mr Sai said that under the rehabilitation policy, a provision has been made to provide a maximum of 4 decimal land in urban areas or a maximum of 1 hectare agricultural land in rural areas for housing to the surrendered Maoists carrying a bounty of Rs. 5 lakh or more. With the objective of rehabilitation of the surrendered Naxalites and Naxal-affected families of the state and providing them a safe life, the Central Government has sanctioned 15,000 concrete houses for them under Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (Rural). The Chief Minister said that efforts like ‘Mahila Thana’, Mahila Help Desk and ‘Abhivyakti’ App launched by the state police for the safety of women reflect their sensitivity and dedication towards the public.

Deputy Chief Minister and Home Minister Shri Vijay Sharma said in his address that the President’s insignia is a strong symbol of courage, service and devotion to duty of Chhattisgarh Police. This decoration of the President’s Police insignia not only makes the police force proud, but will also inspire them to work with new energy and enthusiasm. The state’s police has proved that it is synonymous with fear for the wicked and respect for the gentlemen.

In his welcome address, Director General of Police Mr. Ashok Juneja, while giving information about the achievements of Chhattisgarh Police, said that since the establishment of the state on 1 November 2000, the police force has shown courage and determination on every front. Mentioning the anti-Naxal operations, rehabilitation policies and campaigns against drugs in Naxal-affected areas, he said that Chhattisgarh Police has always been ready to serve the public.

In the Presidential Nishan Investiture Ceremony, the parade saluted the Chief Guest Shri Amit Shah. Shri Shah inspected the parade after the salute. A march past was also done by the women and men platoons. Chief Guest Shri Shah handed over the Presidential Nishan to Chhattisgarh Police amidst tricolour balloons in the sky and spectacular fireworks after chanting of mantras by religious leaders. He also released a coffee table book based on the 24-year journey of Chhattisgarh Police in the program. Chhattisgarh Assembly Speaker Dr. Raman Singh, Deputy Chief Minister Shri Arun Saw, Union Home Secretary Shri Govind Mohan and Intelligence Bureau Director Shri Tapan Kumar Deka, along with police administration officials, jawans and family members of martyred jawans were present in large numbers in the ceremony. Additional Director General of Police Shri Vivekanand expressed gratitude to the guests.
