Thailand to Launch E-Visa for Bangladeshis on January 2: Application Process Simplified

Thailand is set to streamline travel for Bangladeshi citizens with the launch of its e-visa service on January 2, according to a statement by the Royal Thai Embassy in Dhaka. This digital initiative aims to make the visa application process more efficient and user-friendly.

Starting December 19, 2024, Bangladeshi official passport holders—government employees, officials, and representatives on official business—will also be exempt from visa requirements.

To apply for the e-visa, applicants can complete the application form and upload necessary documents online via https://www.thaievisa.go.th. Unlike the traditional system, physical passport submission will no longer be required. Approved visas will be sent via email, which must be printed and presented to Thai immigration at entry points.

However, due to technical limitations, applicants in Bangladesh cannot directly pay the visa fee on the e-visa website. Upon submission, a “Payment Info Summary” sheet will be generated, including the reference number, QR code, and fee amount. Payment must be transferred to the Thai Embassy’s bank account via https://www.combank.net.bd/thaievisa, and the payment sheet must be uploaded for verification. Cash payments will not be accepted.

The e-visa will typically be processed within 10 working days, with detailed guidelines available on the e-visa website. To facilitate this transition, the Royal Thai Embassy will stop accepting applications through its four visa application centers from December 24.

This initiative is expected to simplify travel procedures for Bangladeshi nationals, improving convenience and efficiency while ensuring smoother entry into Thailand.
