Chief Minister Shri Vishnu Dev Sai has expressed deep sorrow over the demise of famous film director Shri Shyam Benegal. Expressing condolences to the family of Shri Benegal, the Chief Minister has prayed to God to give strength to his bereaved family and for peace of the departed soul. Chief Minister Shri Sai said that Shyam Benegal ji was one of those great directors of Indian cinema, who forced the society to think through his films. Shyam Benegal ji’s films were not only a medium of entertainment, but also portrayed social issues and reality on screen very well. He taught that films can also be a powerful medium to bring change in the society. Honored with Padma Shri and Padma Bhushan, Shri Benegal ji won the National Film Award 8 times and gave many talented artists to the film industry.
