Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav to inaugurate the 31st National Children’s Science Congress
Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav will inaugurate the 31st National Children’s Science Congress at Ravindra Bhawan, Bhopal. The event, which will be held from 3 to 6 January 2025, aims to encourage scientific thinking among children and motivate them to contribute to science, innovation, and technology. Dr. Yadav said, “This event is an important platform to increase children’s interest in science and inspire the new generation in the field of innovation. Madhya Pradesh is proud to host this national-level event.”
More than 700 students from the country, their teachers, and mentors will participate in the National Children’s Science Congress. Students from Gulf countries like Bahrain, the United Arab Emirates, Kuwait, Oman, and Saudi Arabia will also participate.
This year, the main theme of the National Children’s Science Congress is ‘Understanding Ecosystems for Health and Well-being’. The theme is further divided into five sub-themes, including an understanding of ecosystems, promotion of nutrition and health, ecological approaches for self-reliance, technological innovations, and socio-cultural practices. The National National Children’s Science Congress is a national science communication programme initiated in 1993. It is organized by the National Council for Science and Technology Communication under the Department of Science and Technology, Government of India. Children in the age group of 10 to 17 years participate in it.
Automation of Varahamihira Observatory inaugurated
Chief Minister Dr. Yadav will also inaugurate the automation of the Varahmihira Astronomical Observatory. This will give Madhya Pradesh a new identity in science and astronomy. Due to automation, common citizens can now use the observatory’s telescope while sitting at home.
Main activities
More than 20 technical sessions, workshops, exhibitions, and science-based games will be organized on various topics at the National Children’s Science Congress. These include Chandrayaan Exhibition, Water Rocketry, Cap Making from Paper, Environmental Snake Ladder Game, Mathematical Ladder Game, Biology Exhibition, Leaf Craft, Environment Exhibition, Cheetah Exhibition, Scientific Awareness through Folk Songs, Hydroponics Technique Robotics Workshop and Safety from Lightning Exhibition. There will also be face-to-face dialogue between eminent scientists and students of the country. Eminent scientists like Solar Man Dr. Chetan Solanki (IIT Mumbai), Dr. Nand Kumar (AIIMS, Delhi), and Dr. Chaitanya Puri (IISER Pune) will interact with the students.
A platform for local students
Students of Bhopal have been given a special opportunity to participate in this event. Scientific projects from local schools and colleges have also been invited. This will give students an opportunity to learn and interact with participants and scientists from India and abroad. The programme to be organized in Bhopal will provide a platform for students, teachers, and the scientific community to understand and share new dimensions of science.
