Maharashtra to Implement ‘E-Cabinet’ System

A Key Initiative by Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis for Transparent and Efficient Governance

Mumbai : Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis has emphasized leveraging technology to ensure greater transparency and efficiency in state administration. As part of this vision, the decision to implement an E-Cabinet system has been taken.

The E-Cabinet system, developed by NIC (National Informatics Centre), was presented today by Chief Secretary Sujata Saunik during the cabinet meeting. This ICT-based (Information and Communication Technology) solution is set to significantly reduce the extensive use of paper traditionally associated with cabinet meetings.

The system will provide an easy-to-use dashboard for ministers, enabling them to quickly access essential references, review action points, and monitor the implementation of decisions. The E-Cabinet will ensure the preservation of records related to cabinet meetings, decisions, and associated documents. Ministers and officials will be able to retrieve cabinet decisions and references with ease, streamlining the entire process.

This system aims to address challenges encountered in traditional cabinet meetings. It allows online uploading of proposals to be discussed and decided upon during meetings. Additionally, final decisions and related records will be systematically maintained.

The implementation of the E-Cabinet system marks a significant step toward good governance. It will eliminate last-minute chaos involving the distribution of physical documents, saving considerable time for both officials and cabinet members. This initiative is expected to improve administrative efficiency and set a new benchmark for governance in Maharashtra.
