MTDC’s Navegaonbandh and Chandpur Tourist Residences Inaugurated by CM Devendra Fadnavis

Mumbai : Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis has expressed that the MTDC’s (Maharashtra Tourism Development Corporation) tourist residences at Navegaonbandh in Gondia district and Chandpur in Bhandara district will be a delight for tourists. Speaking at the virtual inauguration ceremony held after the Cabinet meeting at the Secretariat, he highlighted the significance of these projects for regional tourism.

Deputy Chief Ministers Eknath Shinde and Ajit Pawar, Tourism Minister Shambhuraj Desai, Minister of State for Tourism Indranil Naik, Tourism Secretary Jayashree Bhoj, and MTDC Managing Director Manoj Kumar Suryavanshi were present at the event.

Navegaonbandh – An Ideal Tourist Destination

Located 65 km from Gondia, Navegaonbandh is home to a National Bird Sanctuary, a scenic area spread across 165 sq. km of lush forests. The lake and surrounding forest are a haven for birdwatchers, with migratory birds from distant regions like Siberia visiting every year during specific seasons. The Navegaonbandh reservoir covers an area of 11 sq. km, adding to the region’s natural beauty

Fully-Equipped Tourist Accommodation at Navegaonbandh

MTDC has developed a state-of-the-art tourist residence named “Chandpur” at this picturesque location under the Regional Tourism Development Scheme, with an investment of ₹21 crore. The facility includes VIP suites, deluxe suites, standard suites, an 8-bed dormitory, a restaurant, and a swimming pool for recreation. The complex features 18 deluxe suites, two dormitories for women, one for men, a changing room, a manager’s office, and a waiting room.

Chandpur Tourist Residence Inauguration

MTDC has also opened the Chandpur Tourist Residence in Bhandara district, a serene and spiritual destination. Built under the Regional Tourism Development Scheme with an investment of ₹11 crore, this facility offers deluxe suites, dormitories, a restaurant, and a swimming pool. The residence consists of 24 rooms, ensuring a comfortable stay for tourists.

Nearby Tourist Attractions in Chandpur

Chandpur is surrounded by several noteworthy destinations. The ancient Shiva temple on Ambagad Hill at Gaymukh is a prominent spiritual site. Ambagad Fort, located on the Satpura mountain range in Tumsar taluka of Bhandara district, is a must-visit for history enthusiasts. The Bawanthadi River, flowing through Nagpur, Gondia, and Bhandara districts, is another natural attraction, alongside the Bawanthadi (Rajiv Sagar) Dam project. Additionally, the picturesque village of Dhapewada on the banks of the Chandrabhaga River draws visitors with its charm and beauty.
