Any Device’ made available for visually impaired children

At present, new technologies and equipment are being incorporated in the field of education with the aim of connecting Divyang students with the modern education system and making them self-reliant. So that a new direction can be given to the educational development of Divyang children. And we all know that through Braille script, visually impaired people can gain the ability to read and write. Residential school ‘Saksham’ is being run in Jawanga under Geedam development block of South Bastar Dantewada district. This is the first such institute in Chhattisgarh where training is given by trained teachers through modern machines keeping in mind the needs of Divyang children. At present, 94 girls and 90 boys of various Divyang categories are studying here, out of which 16 girls and 12 boys are in the visually impaired category. In this institute, along with providing all-round education to the children, all measures are being taken to increase their confidence. Here children complete their daily tasks easily. These children go to normal schools in the morning shift like other children. They have special training classes in the afternoon where they are taught things according to their needs. Along with this, the integration of education and technology for blind children in Dantewada district as per the efforts of the district administration is a commendable initiative.

In this sequence, the district administration has provided a special device “Annie Device” to the visually impaired children in Saksham School. A revolutionary device for visually impaired children, it is a smart learning tool, which helps children to learn and read Braille script. Annie Device is specially designed for those children who are unable to see. This device helps children to recognize and write Braille letters through touch and audio features.

How does Any Device work?

Children touch the Braille letters on the device with their fingers. The device immediately plays the name and sound of the letter in audio. It also has interactive games and quizzes, which provide a fun learning experience for children.

Benefits for children

Children can easily learn Braille script with the help of “Any Device”. Along with this, this device helps children to become self-reliant, so that they are less dependent on others in their studies. This new way of learning increases the confidence of children and motivates them to reach new heights. This effort of the district administration is a big step towards improving the future of visually impaired children. From the establishment of Saksham Vidyalaya in 2013 to the upgradation of Braille script and the use of “Any Device”, this effort is bringing a big change in the lives of blind children. In this regard, Mr. Amit Yadav, a teacher teaching the children, said that since 2015, we have been teaching Braille script to children, but now with the support of the district administration, we have got a new device. Earlier, we could write simultaneously in the Braille machine, but now through the Annie device, children can study better and will get other types of facilities, so that children will be able to read better. Braille script is already a unique means of reading and writing for blind children. Now through this new technology, “Any Device,” children are experiencing not only studies but also games, songs and other digital facilities. This device is equipped with technology like voice assistance, which helps children to become self-reliant and connect with the modern education system. This step of the Dantewada administration is an inspiration for those sections of the society who need special attention and support. It presents an excellent example of inclusiveness and technological development in education.
