Union Minister of Agriculture, Panchayat and Rural Development Shri Shivraj Singh Chauhan has said that the double engine government of Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi at the Centre and Shri Vishnu Dev Sai in the state is working with full dedication to change the picture and fate of the state. He was addressing the More Housing More Rights programme organised in Nagpura of Durg district today. On this occasion, he greeted the beneficiaries of Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana by washing their feet. Union Minister Shri Chauhan announced 3 lakh 3 thousand 384 new houses under Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana in Chhattisgarh.  

Union Minister Shri Chouhan said that Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi had promised housing to the poor, which is being realised today. He informed that under this historic effort to provide permanent houses to the poor across the country, 8 lakh 47 thousand houses have already been sanctioned in Chhattisgarh so far. He said that the Central Government has set new eligibility criteria to make this scheme more inclusive, in which the maximum income limit has now been increased to Rs 15,000. Apart from this, those who have two and a half acres of irrigated land or five acres of non-irrigated land will also be eligible under this scheme. Beneficiaries can now apply and survey for their housing themselves.

Union Minister Shri Shivraj Singh Chauhan said that under the leadership of Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi, wonderful work is being done to promote agriculture. Emphasis is being laid on increasing crop production, reducing the cost of farming and crop diversification. New varieties of paddy are also being released. He said that women are being empowered under the Lakhpati Didi Yojana, which is bringing new life to the rural economy.

While addressing the gathering, Chief Minister Shri Vishnu Dev Sai said that our illustrious Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi had started the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana to provide housing to crores of homeless families. A government of good governance came to power in Chhattisgarh. A double engine government was formed. We held a cabinet meeting the very next day after taking oath and approved 18 lakh houses. Today, due to this decision, satisfaction can be seen on the faces of lakhs of beneficiaries of Chhattisgarh. The dream of a house that they had seen is now being fulfilled.

Chief Minister Shri Sai said that we have completed one year of our government and have also presented the report card of one year before the public. Our test started after the swearing-in and we fulfilled the first promise in the cabinet meeting. This reassured us and within a year we have fulfilled all the major promises of Modi ji’s guarantee. Within two weeks of the oath, on the occasion of the birth anniversary of revered Atal ji, Good Governance Day, we transferred the bonus amount of two years’ pending paddy to 13 lakh farmer brothers. As per the promise, we also purchased paddy at Rs 3100 per quintal and 21 quintals per acre. Last time we purchased a record amount of 145 lakh metric tonnes of paddy. Last time we transferred a total amount of Rs 49 thousand crore to the farmers’ accounts. This has been recorded as a record in the agricultural history of Chhattisgarh.

The Chief Minister said that we are constantly monitoring that work on PM houses can be done at a fast pace. GIS mapping and accurate planning is being prepared through the Griha portal. We have entrusted the responsibility of supplying construction material for PM housing to self-help groups under the Lakhpati Didi program. This is also helping a lot in women empowerment, in this work Awas Mitras are effectively helping the beneficiaries due to which housing construction is being completed on time. We have arranged for discount coupons to provide construction material to the beneficiaries at a low cost. A toll-free number has also been arranged for quick redressal of complaints. He said that it has been decided to build 15 thousand houses for surrendered Maoists and Naxal-affected families. The implementation of PM Janman Yojana brought for the development of special backward tribes is also happening rapidly in the state.

The Chief Minister specially thanked Union Minister Shri Shivraj Singh Chauhan, who showed his sensitivity towards the homeless people of the state by approving 8 lakh 47 thousand new houses for Chhattisgarh.

Vidhan Sabha Speaker Dr. Raman Singh said on this occasion that 18 lakh houses have been sanctioned in Chhattisgarh in fulfilment of the guarantee of Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi. He said that due to the coordination between the Central and State Government, there has been unprecedented progress in housing and road construction in the state.

Deputy Chief Minister Shri Vijay Sharma said that all the eligible beneficiaries of the state are being benefited under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana. 32 thousand houses have been approved under the PM Janman Yojana and every village of the state is being connected with paved roads. He said that rural connectivity is being strengthened in Chhattisgarh under 2449 km long road projects.

In the program, material was distributed to rural mason trainees. Gram Panchayats, Janpad Panchayats and NGOs doing excellent work were felicitated. Incentives and cleanliness kits were distributed to the beneficiaries of individual toilet construction. Drone didis and Lakhpati didis were awarded certificates and their work was appreciated. Under the ownership scheme, rights records were distributed to the beneficiaries.

On this occasion, Deputy Chief Minister Mr. Arun Saw, Forest Minister Mr. Kedar Kashyap, Agriculture Minister Mr. Ramvichar Netam, Food Minister Mr. Dayal Das Baghel, MLAs Mr. Kiran Dev Singh, Lalit Chandrakar, Gajendra Yadav, Domanlal Korsevada, Rakesh Sen, Ishwar Sahu, Dipesh Sahu and Ms. Bhavna Bohra along with many public representatives and a large number of villagers were present.
