Ensure Effective Implementation of Central Government Schemes for the Needy: Union Minister of State for Social Justice, Ramdas Athawale

Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar : Union Minister of State for Social Justice, Ramdas Athawale, directed the district administration to ensure that the benefits of schemes implemented by the Department of Social Justice reach the needy effectively.

A review meeting of various schemes under the Social Justice Department was held today in the planning hall of the District Collector’s office. The meeting was attended by Municipal Commissioner G. Shrikant, District Collector Dilip Swami, Zilla Parishad CEO Vikas Meena, Pro-Vice Chancellor of Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar Marathwada University Vijay Sarwade, Police Commissioner Pravin Pawar, Superintendent of Police (Rural) Dr. Vinayakumar Rathod, Assistant Commissioner for Social Welfare Pradeep Bhogle, District Supply Officer Pravin Phulari, District Lead Bank Manager Mangesh Kedar, and District Rural Development Agency Project Director Ashok Shirse, along with heads of all departments.

The central government implements several schemes under the Department of Social Justice, such as the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana, Ujjwala Gas Yojana, Jan Dhan Yojana, assistance for persons with disabilities, incentives for inter-caste marriages, and schemes like Vayoshri for senior citizens. Minister Athawale emphasized that every department within the district administration must fulfill its responsibilities diligently while implementing these schemes. He urged implementing agencies to instill confidence in beneficiaries by assuring them of the government’s support in improving their living standards.

During the meeting, District Rural Development Agency Project Director Ashok Shirse reported that 80% of the target under the Ramai Awas Yojana and the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana had been achieved in rural areas. In urban areas, Municipal Commissioner G. Shrikant informed that 6,136 houses had been constructed, though an additional 30,000 were still needed.

District Supply Officer Pravin Phulari stated that 1,70,015 beneficiaries had been covered under the Ujjwala Gas Yojana in the district. Additionally, 15,38,000 beneficiaries had opened bank accounts under the Jan Dhan Yojana. District Lead Bank Manager Mangesh Kedar highlighted that under the Mudra Yojana, unemployed youth were being provided assistance to gain employment.

Minister Athawale reviewed the implementation of schemes for persons with disabilities and senior citizens under the Zilla Parishad’s Social Welfare Department, as well as programs like Vayoshri and Tirth Darshan. He also sought details from the police department regarding crimes against Scheduled Castes and their investigation. The Minister directed that inter-caste couples be provided financial incentives in a timely manner under the relevant schemes.
